Description
In 1838 the Meisl brothers bought the Feldschlößchen mansion and estate near Dresden and began the construction of a lager brewery. In 1858 they founded the ‘Aktienbrauerei zum Feldschlößchen’. At the start of the 1960s the three Dresden breweries: Feldschlößchen, Felsenkeller and Waldschlößchen formed the state-owned company VEB Dresdner Brauereien. In 1979 the VE Drinks Combine for the Dresden District was formed which also included the new Dresden-Coschütz Brewery. After reunification in 1990 there was a reorganization and the founding of the Sächsischen Brau-Union (SBU). In 1992 the Holsten-Brauerei AG acquired the SBU which was renamed the Feldschlößchen Aktiengesellschaft Dresden in 1995. In 2004 Carlsberg acquired the majority of shares of Holsten. Since 2011 the Feldschlößchen brewery is back in eastern German hands when Carlsberg sold the brewery to TCB Beverages, a medium-sized brewery group,

Bottle 50cl.Clear dark red brown amber color with a large, frothy to creamy, good lacing, mostly - fully lasting, off-white to light beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, bread, caramel, oxidide malt, light brown sugar. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20090626]

Dark brown with a large beige head. Sweet aroma with hard roasted malt, rye bread and coffee. Sweet flavour with roasted malt, coffee, liquerice and hoppy notes. Fairly bitter finish.

Bottle, 7.0%. Weak aroma. Clear dark chestnut colour. Bready soy flavour. Slightly sweet. Tastes bready and oxidized. Disappointing.

Claar golden with a medium off white head. aroma had caramel and malty notes. Flavour was sweet and malty with hints of caramel notes. Finisheds weet.

50 cL bottle. Pours clear and golden yellow with a small white head. Cornish and grassy/hayish aroma. Bitter, syrupy and dry flavoured with a distinct cornish note. Light bitter and persistint cornish finish.

Bottled. A golden beer with a white head. The aroma has notes of malt and straw, and a bit of caramel. The flavor is sweet malty with some notes of caramel, leading to a lightly bitter finish.
