Draught at the brewery shop, Riga. Hazy deep golden, small head. Bread nad butter, some grass. Mid sweet with medium body and well rounded mouthfeel. Honey, butter and spicy hops - all in good balance - lead to an increasingly bitter finish. Nice!

500 ml bottle shared at Beer session XIX in Tromsø 220312. Large and frothy beige/tan head that slowly dissolves leaving some fragmented lacing. Medium strength aroma of sweet, dark fruits and roasted caramel. Similar but more hearty flavour with some hops as well. Another nice label from Valmiermuizas befitting one of the more interesting Latvian breweries, of which this beer is a good example.

500 ml bottle shared at Beer session XIX in Tromsø 220312. Nice and serious-looking label that is much appreciated. Golden body with frothy head that dissolves quite quickly leaving spotted lacing in the glass. Strong, fresh and slightly bitter aroma with some dark malts. Well-balanced flavour that adds bread and dough to elements present in aroma. Fruity finish. Comfortable and foamy palate. I could go for another one.

Bottled 500ml (Stockmann Tallinn, BB 05/2012)
Deep ruby color, small beige head. Toasted coffeish and caramelly aroma with some diacetyl. Medium-bodied. Sweetish, chocolaty flavor. Toasted notes, light tartness in the aftertaste. Not much diacetyl in flavor. Aftertaste has caramel and some bitterness. Good German-style dunkel. One of the best Latvian beers I’ve had (the bar is not very high with Latvian beers).

"Nepasterizets". Clear, deep golden color, small steady white head. Aroma has diacetyl, sweet maltyness, some bread. Medium-bodied, quite soft palate. Sweet maltyness, some diacetyl, light hoppyness in the finish - more hops than in standard Latvian lager. Not the most clean brew but clearly in the best third of Latvian pale lagers.
