Description
Hoepfner is a traditional company. Founded in 1798, the brewery is one of the oldest still active companies in Karlsruhe. It is still brewed and bottled in the "Hoepfner Burg", built in 1896 in the east of Karlsruhe. “A breath of fresh air in old walls” expresses the will to combine the tried and tested with new ideas. A highly modern and innovative company can be found within the historic walls, which is run according to the company guidelines “Quality, Continuity and Partnership”.

Bottle, 5.1%. Pale yellow colour, small white head. Tiny floaties. The aroma is slightly citric.Flavour is also citric with a hint of malt and dust. Low bitterness. Mild and refreshing, but not too flavourful.

Bottle: Clear amber coloured, big fluffy, stable off-white head; sweet, caramelly, dark-malty, toasted-malty nose with supporting aromatic hops in the wings; robust sweet-bitter flavour, light to medium-bodied; drier malty and roasted-bitter finish with impressions of cough-syrup in the aftertaste. A fine, well balanced stuff........

(bottle) Clear, mahogany colour with a thick beige foamy head, quite persistent and slowly lacing. Sweet, a bit sugary toast-malty aroma with light notes of caramel, a subtle fruity tinge of dried fruits and an aromatic, slightly herbal, slightly floral hoppy blend. Bitter and moderately sweet flavour, slightly roasted malty taste with caramel and chocolate; medium bodied with a pleasant carbonation; almost dry, moderately roasted and quite bitter finish. A quaffable Porter from Germany.

Bottle. Oramge yellow, high carbonation, rocky white head. Salty clove nose. Minerally base as well, spices dominate over fruit. Mediuym to light body, slightly fizzy. Orangepeel and clove aftertaste.

Bottle: Medium-sized fluffy to creamy head, moderate fruity 8almost vinous) and grainy nose; mild sweet-bitter flavour, smooth MF; a touch of bitterness in the sweet-grainy finish. Clean&nice........

Re-rate from bottle: Light citric, grassy hop nose. Pale golden, fine carbonation, low head. Lightbodied, mellow mouthfeel. Lightfooted but broad elegant hop flavor, flower and honey finish, aromatic flowery retronasal. Lovely really, glad I had it again. old rating: 6 4 4 2 9 Bottle, green golden, big white head. aromatic herbal light sulphury nose. Very lightbodied, flat mouthfeel. Light grainy, doughy, very light hops. Boring in the end.

Bottle: Greenish-golden coloured, bigger fluffy head; distinctive sweet-malty and delicate hoppy nose; robust sweet-bitter flavour, medium bodied; sweetish finish, later a bit drier and hoppier. A pleasant, chewy brew........

Bottle. Red chestnut, fluffy, lacing brown head. Metallic roasted aroma. Siruppy rich base, fairly roasted, chewy coffeeground, herbal hops, brown sugar finish. Chewy, light sparkly. Definitely breaks the mold.

Bottle. Pale golden, lacing white head. Toasted, light dusty malt nose, overlaid by metallic hops. Light dusty and nutty malt base, cheap hop counterpoint. thin and tinny. Sarkly and refreshing but not much else.

Bottle: Hazy, pale greenish-golden coloured, creamy and firm lacing white head; sweet malt and distinctive grassy hops in the aroma (like freshly mowed hay), very soft MF, light to medium-bodied; lingering, soft bitter-aromatic and sweet-malty finish. A goodie...
