Deep mahogany brown topped with a thin beige cap.
Nose is a little harsh, vinous, booze fumes, bitter barrel notes, dark fruit rinds, toffee.
Taste comprises stewed fruits, caramelised brown sugars, bourbon bite, fruit cake mix, molasses, figs.
Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a spike of alcohol.
Okay sipper if a touch harsh in places and slightly disjointed.

Pretty much a clear amber brown beer, small bubbly tan head. Light palate, semi dry, decent fine minerally carbonation. Surprisingly thin malts, good caramel and a little malt cream. A bold estery fruity aspect in the mid, pears and orchard fruits, something that would be right in a quad but for me, should be alien in a barleywine. Mild and tangy fruity bourbon. Oak induced vanilla is prominent on the back end. As a beer it's fine, as a strict adherent to the barleywine style, slightly weak.
