Bottle - Honey and buttery oak with a bit of spice. Hazy gold with a foamy head. Honey, buttery oak and a spicy carbonation. Interesting and more on the wine side than beer.

Location: Draft at Blind Tiger, 3/26/14

Aroma: Has an aroma of yeast, grain, fruit (apple, pear), and some spice
Appearance: Has a clear apple juice looking pour with a small head and mild lace
Flavor: The taste is a mix of sweet, tart, and a little bit of spice
Palate: The body is light and fizzy, tingly and clean feel on the mouth, and a tart finish
Overall Impression: I wanted this one to be a little better. It isn't a bad beer, there's some good stuff going on here, but it just isn't a great one.

Bottle, assumedly 2013, drunk 3/15/14
Pinot noir-like color, very cool looking with a small, fairly poorly retained head and moderate clarity.
I gotta say, I can see all of the mediocre or slightly above average scores on this one and I actually understand it. This one is not bursting with sourness, nor is it full of juicy black currants. The flavors are pretty near bone-dry and the black currant flavor is borderline astringent. BUT, the tight carbonation is engaging and lends a light creaminess to the body. The heavy lactic presence softens things and the fruit flavor adds no sweetness.
So why do I like it? It’s basically like a session sour. Reserved and understated, with just enough currant tartness to cleanse the palate on the end. Low alcohol relative to the style and right on the bottom of the threshhold for dryness without being overattenuated/tannic/astringent. Or so I think.

750mL bottle, pours a dark mahogany with a medium beige head. Aroma of bourbon, vanilla, candied sugar, and bubblegum. Flavour of banana, candied sugar, vanilla and light bourbon. Highly carbonated, boozy and uncomplex. Not the greatest.
