Pitch black color, dark brown head. Huge bourbon, vanilla, oak and dark fruit. Fucking amazing nose. Very smooth, low carbonation in the mouth, mildly sweet, bourbon is so well integrated, dark chocolate, vanilla a bit of molasses. Heavenly. Just the smoothest beer.

Pours clear very dark brown color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big chocolate, cocoa, coffee, wood smoke, caramel, toasted dark bread, light nuttiness, herbal, light pepper, light vanilla/char, slight dark fruit, and roast/smokey earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready/smoked malt and light-moderate earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big chocolate, cocoa, coffee, wood smoke, caramel, toasted dark bread, light nuttiness, herbal, light pepper, light vanilla/char, slight dark fruit, and roast/smokey earthiness. Moderate herbal/spicy hop and roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of chocolate, cocoa, coffee, wood smoke, caramel, toasted dark bread, light nuttiness, herbal, light pepper, light vanilla/char, and roast/smokey earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready/smoked malt and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; with a great roast/hop bitter/sweet balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and medium body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy, and lightly sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent smoked porter style! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready/smoked malt and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink. Almost rauchbier levels of smoke going on, but still well balanced with the malt profile. A very enjoyable offering.

Aromas of lemon, cracker, corn, white bread, light pear/apple, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance of pale malt and light earthy hop/yeast ester notes; with good strength. Taste of lemon, cracker, corn, white bread, light pear/apple, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Light herbal/grassy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon, cracker, corn, white bread, and herbal/grassy earthiness on the finish for a short bit. Damn nice robustness and balance of pale malt and light earthy hop/yeast ester flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness. Very clean flavors with well restrained yeast character. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, fairly crisp, and lightly grainy/creamy mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with zero warming present after the finish as expected of 4.5%. Overall this is a damn nice cream ale style. All around great robustness and balance of pale malt and light earthy hop/yeast ester flavors; and very smooth, crisp, and clean to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

2014 Bottle. Thanks to Greg for sharing the bottle. Pours a glowing copper with a finger of white foam. Layers of oak with creamy vanilla cake icing. As it warms some light barnyard, spiced bourbon and sherry notes come out. Average carbonation with a light body. Well-rounded and full-flavored feel on the palate. Again lots of oak with some light funk on the finish. Dry. What a wheat wine. Seriously complex and highly drinkable. Hides the ABV well with only some light warming noticeable.
