Description
The brewery was founded by Phil and Cynthia “Scuttle” Bannan in 1996 with a 20 barrel system in the brew house, two 20 barrel fermenters and one 20 barrel bright tank. Since then our capacity has grown and we have broadened our product line to include more than 20 styles of hand-crafted ales and lagers.
After more than 20 years Scuttlebutt Brewing Company remains family owned and independent.

Since the beginning Scuttlebutt beers have been brewed in Everett with the Northwest’s finest ingredients – barley from Vancouver, Washington, hops from the Yakima Valley, a proprietary yeast from Odell, Oregon and some of the nation’s finest drinking water from the Spada Reservoir in the Cascade Mountains. Our beers are clean, balanced and have been brewed with care for over 17 years.

Bottle Pours a dark muddy redish brown. Small off-white head and thin silky lacing. Aromas of apple-butter, sweet dark pitted fruits, and caramel. Flavors are similar, more woody and not as sweet as the smell hinted. Carbonation is soft and the feel is smooth and cloudy. Deep soft bitternes at the end. Doesnt taste like 12.9% though Im sure it will fell like it later.

Bronze colour with little visible carbonation. Has a moderate aroma of citrus, wood, and maybe some tobacco in there as well. The body is slightly syrupy. The palate mixes resiny bitterness with the sticky crystal maltiness of a much bigger beer. Piney, cologne-like finish. .

Bottle Pours a cloudy amber/tan with a thick head and a lot of continous carbonation to maintian it with good lacing. Aroma is of citrus peel (grapefruit), and a healthy kick of hops. Flavor is quite hoppy, and grapefruit pith again. Roasted grain and malt. A bit unballanced to teh hops side I think. Feel is rich and full bodied. Finish has that standard pucker that 40+IBUs will leave you with.
