Description
Revival Brewing Company is a renewal of brewmaster Sean Larkin’s passion for unique and innovative craft beers, cultivated over twenty years of creating signature brews for the preeminent breweries in Rhode Island. Though he’d been thinking about striking out on his own for a few years, it was an introduction to Owen Johnson, an avid home brewer, in late 2009 that set in motion that which would become Revival. Over that first December breakfast meeting at Nick’s on Broadway, the two discovered how closely their ambitions and passions aligned.

500ml can from Hasegawa Liquors. Pours darker orange, some limited foam. Fruity-sweetish nose, somewhat stale or oxidised feel to it bit otherwise not too bad. taste is at first quite dry and grassy bitter, becoming juicier while it warms. Dry and resiny biter finish, a bit harsh even.

On tap at Brutopia, pours an opaque murky peachy yellow with a tiny white head. Aroma is confusing, with lots of pithy notes, including apricot pith and mango, along with plenty of lacto. Flavour is loaded with sour mango upfront, with pithy apricots and plenty of lacto. Sour and yogurty. Fun beer.

On tap at Brutopia, pours a hazy dark pink with a small off-pink head. Aroma brings some strange spices and murky, pithy, heavily tart blueberries. Flavour is along the same lines, with intensely tart blueberries, some pithy skins and lacto. Lacking depth or integration. Fun chaotic beer.

On tap at Brutopia, pours a deep dark amber brown with a small light brown head. Aroma brings out subdued coffee, with a sludgey cocoa character. Flavour is light on the coffee, with moderate roast and sludgey cocoa. Not overly well-balanced and rather chalky. It's okay.

On tap at Brutopia, pours pours a clear pale blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out light biscuity malt and straw. Flavour is very watery and mineraly, with straw and biscuity malt. Lacking much depth and in serious need of more hops.

On tap at Brutopia, pours a cloudy dark pinkish peachy red with a small off-pink head. Aroma brings out phenols, with blueberries and raspberries, with some light lacto. Flavour is along the same lines, with tart raspberries, subdued blueberries, and lacto. I don't get the phenols as much as I did on the nose, thankfully. Very tart and lacking any of the lacto character. Decent.
