Sampled at the 2014 Festival untapped in Fort Worth. Pours black with deep brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma is full of rich chocolate backed by roasted malts and dark grains. Flavor is again really rich in chocolate with hints in bitterness with a bit of dark grain backing.

Sampled at the 2014 Untapped festival in Fort Worth. Pours a hazy pale gold with a white head that lasts throughout the beer and laces. Aroma is full of chili pepper and a bit of green pepper with just a touch of grain backing. Flavor works pretty well with a grain and grass backbone with a pepper combination overlying. Works surprisingly well.

12 oz. bottle thanks to Phatdog1. Dark brown nearly black color. White Head vanished quickly. Nose of coffee and burnt caramel. Hints of roasted barley. Really thin watery body with a thin texture. Nothing really wrong with it but it needs something to make it stand out. And the body needs to be beefed up. Much better out there in terms of style.

Location: Draft at Ginger Man-Houston, 1/13/14

Aroma: The aroma is heavy malt, caramel, chocolate, molasses, and some roast
Appearance: This one pours a darker brownish color with a small beige head
Flavor: The taste is much the same, heavy malty and some boozy flavor mostly
Palate: The body is medium-full, it has a sticky feel, some heat, and thicker finish
Overall Impression: I thought this was a pretty tasty one. It is on the hotter side, but it isn't over-the-top boozy. I enjoyed it.

22 oz. bottle. Shared by Phatdog1’s. Thanks Craig! Not sure the vintage but the label did state it was 8.5% ABV. Dark, dirty brown in color. No head or lace. Aroma has light whiskey on top of earthy mats and tree bark. The flavor starts with dried fruits and caramel with a sweet malty base. The vanilla and like oak barrel come through in the finish. Traces of whiskey after the swallow. Medium in body and silky texture. A nice sipping brew that I finish real quick. Well crafted.

GumboBar, Galveston 12oz: Pours dark brown with a beige head. Aroma is lightly roasted, somewhat chocolatey, and a bit of that slightly grainy lager smell. Taste is pretty similar. Slight bitterness. Restrained sweetness. Chocolate and roasted notes. OK.
