Description
We’ve produced quality beers over the years by challenging and refining our craft, not by appeasing trends. Discerning taste, rolled up sleeves, and upholding our uniquely progressive ideals ensures our drinkers will appreciate Upland beers as much as we do. Many of our brews are unique twists on traditional recipes, while others are creations of our own imaginations. At our brewpubs and tasting rooms in Bloomington, Columbus, Carmel and Indianapolis, flavor, discourse, debate, laughter, and conversation flow as freely as our beer.

Upland Brewing Company was founded in 1997 by Marc Sattinger, Russ Levitt and Dean LaPlante. In 1998, distribution of bottles and kegs began and the brewpub opened its doors. In 2006, ownership changed hands to a group of local investors remains 100% family owned. In 2012, a new brewing facility and bar was opened on the west side of Bloomington which became the primary brewing facility for Upland,

2025 version that’s labeled as “Bulleit and Upland” now but it’s still the bourbon barrel imperial stout with cacao and orange zest.

Pours black with a one finger tan head. Smells of bourbon, oranges, and roast malt. Tastes of roast malt, chocolate, and noticeable oranges though they’re not super strong. It’s on the sweet side. Full bodied and a bit boozy. Very good.

Bottle to tulip.
Appearance: murky golden yellow color with a two finger white foamy head which dissipated to leave some messy lace
Aroma: tart to sour tropical fruitiness rolling into some green apples and a subtle herbal/chamomile character
Flavor: tart juicy with an ample fruity sweet undertone leading into a sly apple to chamomile and tart tropical aftertaste
Texture: almost medium bodied - just a touch under, more of a sipper, semi-dry juicy tart apple to herbal finish
Overall: a nicely done sour ale worth partaking in again.

Can to tulip.
Appearance: clean transparent golden yellow in color with a two finger white foamy head which dissipated adequately to leave some messy lace
Aroma: citrusy and tropical hop aromatics with some coriander and grassy hop spice with subtle sweet wheat underneath
Flavor: all previously mentioned aromas blend together sweetly with a hop spicy tone to balance; mild sweet wheaty and hop spiced to citrusy aftertaste
Texture: light to medium bodied, sessionable; juicy to hop spicy finish
Overall: interesting take on a witbier and a NEIPA blend, I think I could come back to this.
