Pours a moderately hazy straw color - moderate frothy lace - nose is somewhat subdued - a bit of pineapple and musky brettiness, light chard notes, sour apple, a touch plastic phenols - fine carbonation, medium firm.texture - flavor is thin, watery, lacking character - mild earthy brett phenols, a light touch of apple, watered down white wine - a sharp acidity late, possibly from the rose hips, but none of the other spices are detectable in the flavor at all - slighty grainy and acidic in the finish - they were going for subtlty but ended up with something really quite bland -not exactly bad, just extraordinarily boring considering the complex recipe and barrel treatment.

Bottle 375 of 960 - Despite a bad experience with their saison, I’ve decided to give this brewer another shot (with a style that is much harder to screw up) - pour is black, with a fairly thick, dark tan lace - nose of chocolate, smoke, berries (blackberry, raspberry), light acidity, light roast, vinous notes - body and texture are a bit flabby and lifeless, but the flavor is nice - sweet up front, with a fair amount of chocolate - the wine character soon follows, along with some acidity, both of which cut the sweetness a bit - roast and smoke arrive late, as well as some lingering bitterness and oaky character - pretty nice - I may try some more from them in the future.

750ml swing top bottle picked up at Argonaut earlier today - the label is a little simple, but I like the presentation in the swing tops - pours a medium amber - turbid, with a moderate, frothy lace - nose is pretty interesting - some mild wine and oak, quite a bit of earthy, musty, basement character, light sourness, dusty yeast and some sweet apple (though a bit too sweet, almost like candy apples) - carbonation is full, but soft and creamy in the mouth - flavor begins with a sharp, prickly acidity that lasts throughout the experience, as well as a pronounced metallic copper note - a touch of oak, vanillins - some band-aid/plastic phenols through the middle - a bit of sour, earthy apple - a bit grainy on the tail end - finishes with the same sharp acid and metallic note with which it began - pretty messy - this will definitely keep me from dropping another 11.50 for another one of their products - maybe if some else buys it.

Bottle @ home, picked up at Argonaut Denver. Pours a hazy, dark amber brown appearance with little head and no retention. Blood orange, wine, overripe tangerine, tangy aroma. Zippy, dull tangerine, clementine, herbal, dull vinous, spicy, light phenolic, tangy flavor with very light to nonexistent carbonation. Bottle conditioning doesn’t seem to have added much here. Not a good first introduction to a brewery, especially at $13/bottle.
