Imperial stout from Alabama, can shared with Steve at Bar Beenhouwer, Ghent. Very thick and foamy, mocha beige head over a pitch black beer. Aroma of black coffee, Cuban cigars, lots of bitter (unsugared) black chocolate, bonfire, salmiak, charcoal, charred steak, even smoked bacon. Sweetish and lightly sourish onset, some light umami, hints of burnt blackcurrants and dried dates, medium carbonated with a full, oily body; thick walnutty and bitter-chocolatey main flavour, layers of black and eventually roasted bitter, coffeeish to even somewhat ashy maltiness, spiced with a smoky note and peppery hop bitterness, before a warming, whisky-like alcohol glow sets in; bittersweet coffee-like roastiness lingers for a long time, qualifying this one as quite an old school imperial stout, which has become increasingly rare especially in the States in the past ten years or so. Bold and powerful, just a bit on the crude side perhaps, but with some refinement, this could be a stout of high class.

Puuviljane ja vesine, suhkrune, linnaseline. Huvitav kuidas need 4 versiooni samast õllest ikka nii erinevad on?! See on igal juhul ok, aga ei midagi erilist. 3.3ish.

Can. Light haze on this yellowish gold beer, good bubbly pale cream colour head. Airy palate, fairly dry, decent fine carbonation. Slightly thin malts, a reasonable sweetness. Soft pine, ripe citrus, a little marmalade. Light finish. Okay. Basic and then some.

Can. Hazy orange gold beer, tidy cream colour head. Airy palate, semi dry, decent fine carbonation. Light malts, slightly thin but with a good creamy sweetness. Nice bright fruity hops, good bright citrus and bright tropical fruits. Nice level of hop spice lights a fire underneath the hop fruits. Crisp light finish. One of those dipa that just keeps you coming back for more.
