Description
The Genesee Brewing Company, based in Rochester, New York, is one of the largest and oldest continually operating breweries in the United States. It was founded by Mathius Kondolf, one of Rochester’s early entrepreneurs, after purchasing the Reisky & Spies Brewery (since 1857), changing its name to The Genesee Brewery.

The Genesee Brewing Company is since 2012 part of FIFCO USA, the largest independently owned beer company in the United States. With a focus on product quality, facility upgrades (including the relighting of the iconic Genesee Beer & Ale sign), conservation initiatives and employee safety, FIFCO USA has invested in the Genesee family of beers, its employees and the community.

In 2012 The Genessee Brew House was created to capture and share with you the long history of The Genesee Brewery - one of the largest and oldest continually operating breweries in America.

this comes right after beast, cream ale, and natty for worst beer in the world, IMHO. disgusting. i will not drink this. Flat, boring, kinda like if you soaked a piece of toilet paper in honey and then sucked on it. Actually if you did that, you'd taste more honey than there is in the beer. I hate you High Falls.

Well this has my three way tie for worst beer in the world with beast and natty ice. A guy i knew used to microwave these things a little while, said they tasted better that way. i dont think anything can make this beer taste better. the taste is pure ALCOHOL. fizzy, alcohol. i guess the price is right, though i would never buy it.

Overpowering cereal taste. Grainy and very heavy corn/alcohol taste. a horrible beer by all standards.

Luckily I have never had one of the bad batches, which this beer seems to be notorious for. Pleasant aroma and nice color, and the honey aftertaste has the potential to linger, which can be either bad or good depending on your preference. One of my favorite American beers that is not from a micro-brew.

Rerating with more information: Bright dark gold (is that contradictory? - its color is dark gold, but it has a certain brightness). Thick light-colored foamy head that dissipated very quickly, leaving med lacing. Aroma is sharp and sweet, and not particularly beer-like. Flavor is sweet up front, with a very light aftertaste that is dry and has just a tingling of bitterness. I see why this may appeal to a mass-drinking crowd that doesn't like beer. Moderate flavor but not great - more or less clean and fairly drinkable (but sweet enough to make it hard to drink alot).

Not very bown. Not a lot of honey, even if I can probably taste a hint of it. Other that that it is just empty.

Yellow, medium pitted head. Musty and bready aroma, very light malts and just a touch of hops. Sweetish, off flavor, corny and funky. Musty finish, definitely under-hopped with a cloying middle. Ugh.
