The Genesee Brewing Company, based in Rochester, New York, is one of the largest and oldest continually operating breweries in the United States. It was founded by Mathius Kondolf, one of Rochester’s early entrepreneurs, after purchasing the Reisky & Spies Brewery (since 1857), changing its name to The Genesee Brewery.
The Genesee Brewing Company is since 2012 part of FIFCO USA, the largest independently owned beer company in the United States. With a focus on product quality, facility upgrades (including the relighting of the iconic Genesee Beer & Ale sign), conservation initiatives and employee safety, FIFCO USA has invested in the Genesee family of beers, its employees and the community.

12 ounce can. clear, yellow gold color. Foamy white head. Big, sweet pineapple aroma. Grainy malt flavor has a semi-sweet pineapple essence. Clean and light. Thin bodied. brief finish.

$1 can off the bargain rack. Pop the lid and you get a fresh non artificial grapefruit aroma permeating the olfactory. A little cloudy with a big white head that fades to a quarter inch. Pretty good initial flavors. Yes, its beer but with a solid backbone of grapefruit. A little bit of grapefruit bitterness is in there too. Smoother than yer basic kolsch, and a little more refreshing. Not bad but could use a little more carbonation. Perhaps there is some hints of artificial grapefruit in the flavor, just barely. Otherwise, a decent mildly bitter brew without any terribly hoppy ale attributes. A little better than some of the other jenny flavored beers.

Got this colorful can off the bargain rack for 40 cents. It pours clear pale like a clean filtered kosch, but the nose is big fat pineapple, almost borders on an artificial olfactory. Taste is somewhat pineapple, mind you, not much for pineapple in beer. The taste of this is not offensive but it is somewhat artificial in nature. Yes, its drinkable but probably could not drink a few of these. In the end it's just another typical fruit beer with a little more sweetness than usual.
