Description
Wicklow Wolf was established in late 2014 after the meeting of two likeminded friends with a common interest in good beer. Quincey Fennelly and Simon Lynch both fell in love with craft beer while living in California for many years. Setting up a brewery together was always inevitable.

Black with thin soapy head. Aroma is strong with aniseed. It's too carbonated. Flavour has some dark malts and liquorice but is muted due to the high carbonation.

Pours dark brown from the bottle. A frothy, tan head slowly settles. Mild notes of chocolate and caramel in the aroma. A bit dank. Taste is very mildly bitter with notes of roasted grains and a very faint cherry undertone. Body stays fairly light, a bit too light for my preference. Finishes with watery hints. Overall, okay but too thin.

33cl can de Drink Store, Dublin, BB 10/2018. Orange marmelade? the can clearly states, orange extracts.

Bottled, from Dicey Reillys, Ballyshannon. Almost clear copper/amber, rich firm head. Grapefruit and red berries up front. Fairly sweet with medium body and rounded mouthfeel. Fruity and bready with notes of saccharine. Grapefruit and bread. Mid bitter finish. Solid.

Can from O'Brien's, Athlone [290318]
A3, N7, T8, P4, O15 3.7
Very dark brown, seems hazy, bubbly tan head dissipates away quickly maybe due to the flour
Aroma of sweet orange squash, some Terry's Choc Orange
Taste of orange oil, dark Terry Choc Orange, had a few chocolate orange stouts and this is the most orangey i've had. Nice orange flavour as well, dark chocolate malts underneath, soft roast
Palate - Soft carb, medium body, smooth texture, light sweet. Finish as main flavour, plain chocolate and orange 4
Overall - Don't get brown bread and marmalade, more the Terry's and it's very good at that
