About
The Rothaus Brewery was founded 1791 through the Benedictine monastery St. Blasien in the “Zum Rothen Haus” inn (“To the Red House” in English). Following the secularizations of 1806, the Rothaus Brewery fell out of the hands of the monks and became property of the Grand Duchy of Baden and was renamed the “Großherzogliche Badische Staatsbrauerei Rothaus” (Grand Ducal State Brewery Rothaus of Baden). The November Revolution of 1918, which led to the abolition of the monarchy in Baden, caused the company to shorten their name to Badische Staatsbrauerei Rothaus (State-owned brewery of Baden), as from then on the brewery was owned by the federal state of Baden.

Since 1922, the company has had the legal form of a stock corporation, the shares of which are currently held entirely by the associated company of the state of Baden-Württemberg. The continuously large demand for Rothaus beer has in the past made large investments necessary. This allowed the Rothaus Brewery to grow into one of the most modern facilities in Germany.

Huge thanks to Erzengel for that one! Bottle looks very old styled, but good. Beer in the glass with a small head. Starts fine malty, spicy, light alcoholic touch. Herbal notes as well. Finish well balanced, spicy-malty, light metallical touch. Not bad!

Bottle. Clear pale yellow with a rather small but decent white head. Aroma of grains and floral hops. Taste of grains, bread, floral hops and minerals. Low bitterness. Medium carbonation. Soft and thin mouthfeel. Mild, clean and easy but it made me Realist what I like so much about their Pils so much.

Big thank you to Erzengel for this 0,33 l bottle. BB 21.01.27. Clear mid golden in the glass, one finger white foamy head. Grainy, grassy and a little bit musty on the nose. Taste is malty with caramel, less bitter than expected. light fruity alcoholic. Below average carbonated. Smooth and drinkable for a Heller Bock.
