(bottle) Cloudy, deep orange to amber colour with a big and dense, light-beige foamy head. Sweet and dusty malt aroma, slightly wheaty with a phenolic touch that reminds a bit of plastic. Sweet flavour, light to medium bodied with a moderate carbonation. Pronounced malt-accented taste, barley- and wheat-malty with a rather restrained fruit-character, except for light notes of banana; sweet malty, slightly fruity and spicy finish. Not bad but also not particularly refreshing (12.02.08).

Bügelverschlußflasche: Deep golden coloured, quickly vanishing white foam, sweet pale malt, dark malt and a good dash of "rural" hops in the aroma; solid bitter-sweet flavour, medium bodied, soft MF; lingering robust bitter-sweet finish. A very well crafted Bock, not cloying, well hidden alcohol, a good dash of hops included..........

(swing top bottle) Slightly hazy, amber coloured hue with a mid-sized off-white foamy head. Sweet and nutty toast-malty aroma with a faint fruity note and a light touch of herbal hops. Sweet and slightly bitter flavour, quite slim bodied with a moderate carbonation. Toast-malty, slightly nutty taste with caramel; the beer dries out a bit towards the finish, getting a bit bitter with light herbal hoppy accents; lasting caramelly and moderately bitter aftertaste. A bit slim but also pretty drinkable.

(swing top bottle) Hazy, deep amber colour with a mid-sized, slightly off-white foamy head. Moderately sweet toast-malty nose with spicy notes of anise, caramel and a light herbal hoppy blend. Moderately sweet flavour, robust toast-malty base with caramel and herbal side effects; sweet and slightly bitter toast-malty finish with light but balancing herbal hops and a warming alcohol presence. Almost Doppelbock-like, quaffable.

Bügelverschlußflasche (purchased at the Brauerei): Copper to amber coloured, slowly diminishing off-white head, rural malty-caramelly nose with a tinge of toasted malt and a good dash of herbal hops in the backrow; moderate bitter-sweet flavour, soft MF, herbal hops show up in the malty, slightly barnyardy finish. A rural franconian brew, more a Landbier than a Dunkel........

Bügelverschlußflasche: Deep golden coloured, persistent and lacing fluffy head, dry, bitter, very aromatic hoppy nose underpinned by soft pale malt and sorrounded by a touch of barnyard; soft MF, light to medium bodied, robust, mainly dry bitter flavour; lingering, hop-accented finish. Copper brown clear color, decent steady off-white, creamy head. Lemony hoppy nose. Light to medium bodied. Sweetish malty with a good malt profile märzen. Some lemony hops. Clean, malty "session märzen". This one would be excellent for drinking in quatities at München oktoberfest :)
