Description
In 1872 Friedrich Eder, the founder of the brewery, acquired the brewery and restaurant "Zum Ochsen", which has been known since 1779. This was the nucleus of today's brewery in Grossostheim. In the following decades the company grew steadily.
Since 1999 the Schlappeseppel beers are brewed here.

Amber color; medium head. Vulgar cereals aroma and flavor, with something that seems oxidisation. Ordinary bitterness. Boring.

Muddy deep blond color; creamy head. Strong spicy aroma, cloves and some coriander. Smooth mouthfeel with a good body structure; moderate residual sweetness, wheat flavor, clear spicy character and very light fruitiness. An orthodox example, good.

Draught at Ginnheimer Wirtshaus, Frankfurt am Main, as Bavaria Urbräu
Dark brown color; creamy head. Both aroma and flavor are quite simple, with some caramel and roasted malt; the aroma is more perfumy. Correct bitterness. Easy but honest.

2011-04-29, bottle from Edeka in Lautern/Lautertal, 6-3-6-3-12=30
Cloudy blond color. The malt and hop aroma is not bad, for a bottled beer. The carbonation is very high, there is some flavor of malt, herbal character, with a light spicy touch, straws; good bitterness level. One fair bottled German beer.
2011-03-27, draught at Ginnheimer Wirtshaus, Frankfurt am Main, as Bavaria Helles, 6-3-5-2-11= 27
Muddy blond color; small creamy head. The malt aroma is partially crispy, and there is some hop too. Soft mouthfeel; the flavor is quite lame, corn, paper...; some honey. Correct (boring) bitterness. Easy.

bottle from el corte ingles, mallorca. clear amber, smooth almost white head. dust is the main aroma meeting my nose, under thant more interesting stuff like marzipan, flowers, nuts, malts, faint hops. reminds me more of a vienna than a dunkel, but not even close to any of those two styles. flavor is sweet caramelly, dark caramelly, faint bitter nutty, honey.

Bottle. It’s a clear, golden beer with a beautiful, dense, off-white head leaving lacings. Rather weak and boring aroma with pale malts and a fruity touch. The flavor is pretty much the same, fruity, grainy and with a touch of bitterness. A boring one that doesn’t impress anyone, but it drinks easy. 110601

Bottle, courtesy of fonefan. A hazy, golden-orange beer with a white head. Loads of bready, pale malts on the nose, leaving just some room for the aromas expected from a hefeweizen. Wort-like flavor too, more pronounced on the fruits. Medium body, too sweet and with a decent carbonation. Far from good. 110130
