Cask at Lucky Lab on Hawthorne, PDX, 26/05/13. Hazed dark amber orange with a thin off white head. Nose is caramel, touch of hops, bitter orange notes. Taste comprises orange pith, caramel, biscuit, bread, touch of hops and a little pine thrown in. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, light pine bite with hop bitterness in the finish. Drinkable stuff but not particularly true to style - leave the hops out US brewers it won’t hurt you occasionally !!!

Tap at Lucky Lab, Hawthorne PDX, 26/05/13. Very dark amber with a thin off white head. Nose is malt forward, caramel notes, sugars, light hops. Taste comprises caramel malt, biscuit, light treacel, sugars, touch of hops. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, light bitterness in the finish. Drinkable but not one I’d revisit, comes over as a hoppy ESB.

Rather late or early in the year for it but... Draught. Deep beyond ruby red with a thin white head. Malty aroma, somewhat like a Caol Ila whisky. Full bodied and sweet with a strong malt character. ’n bietje hop in the finish

Tap at Lucky Lab, Hawthorne PDX, 26/05/13. Clear golden with a thin off white head. Nose is caramel, cereals, light sugar, citrus. Taste comprises caramel, sugars, grass, malt. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, crisp in the finish. Ok maibock.

Draught. Looks like Coca Cola dark with bubbles. Sweet aroma, caramel malt. Flavour is sweet, with a caloric note, ’Is This meant to replace a meal?’ Malty finish.

Draught. Pours black with a thin off white head. Light and rather faint aroma with a bit of berry. Full satisfying flavour, malt, raisins, berries, with a strong chocolate note. Lekker berry and malt finish

A clear dark brown stout with a thin dark brown head. In aroma, good chocolate malt with coffee grinds, a bit musty. In mouth, a nice bitter chocolate with coffee notes, herbal, raspy, quite nice. On tap at brewpub at Hawthorne, Oct. 7 2012.

A golden amber IPA with a thin off white head. in aroma, a sweet caramel mal with butterscotch and faint hops. In mouth, a sweet caramel malt with a good dose of floral hops, resinous, but some of the cloying butterscotch. On tap at brewpub at Hawthorne, Oct. 7 2012.
