1 liter bottle purchased at Blue Max in Burnsville, MN, shared at the 12/7 tasting at Indra’s. One of 389, so says the bottle. Pour is clear brown ruby with quick fading off white head. Aroma of the bourbon, some wood mustiness and not really too much else. Taste of a bunch of the bourbon and barrel right up front. After the initial taste / aroma settled in, there was a nice Bock backbone and even some smokiness. Overall, interesting, though not exceptional.

1 L Bottle from tytoanderso; Nose of smoke, tobacco, roastiness, and chocolate; opaque black with a medium cinnamon tan head; flavor has bourbon, light sourness, with some chocolate and oak. I don’t think it is a brett beer so it must be lightly infected, doen’t taste that good.

Bottle. Blackish beer with a small tan head. Coffee, bourbon, chocolate, oak aroma. Chocolate, bourbon, brown sugar, oak flavors that aren’t as complex as I’d like to see, though still good. Medium body and would like to see a bit fuller. LIngering bourbon, coffee, molasses with a bit of citrus malt. Decent, but want more out of it.

Thanks to Ughsmash for this one! A good tan head rides over a deep dark garnet colored body. The head recedes quickly as some Dopplebocks do. Caramel malt aroma with a touch of raisin. Good malty Dopple.

This ale poured a nice dark red colour with a big creamy off white head. To the nose the scents included dirty hair, dough, earth??? first taste was smooth and malty with the main taste being the malt flavour. Slightly watery but yet slightly oily mouthfeel. Odd, but not bad. The palate has the smallest flavour of hopps/bitterness taste. Not bad but the smell is really odd.

24 fl oz bottle, thanks to Carsten. Pours deep amber, golden and visible. Has a diminished off-white head. Deep and dark barley, dry woody and some notes of dried raisins. Flavour is dry, malty, breadish and a slight chocolate smoothness and slight bitter. Ends with a woody tone and a warming alcohol.

Shocking that it has taken me this long to try a Sprecher beer. This seasonal pours a dark copper color with a medium light tan head that diminishes pretty quickly. Stringy lacing. Caramel malt aroma with touches of fruit and hops. Medium-bodied and smooth with roasted malt, caramel and plum flavors. Touches of mildly bitter hops are there as well. The finish is short and sweet with a caramel aftertaste. Overall this is an above average Oktoberfest.

Courtesy of Degarth. Pours a dark dark – opaque darkness with nice light brown head. The aroma is big with roasty malts to burnt malts that get swallowed by a pile of oak chips. I do get a hint of the bourbon too. The taste starts dry and roasty with hints of bourbon. Beyond that a sweetness kicks in along with a healthy dose of wood. It ends sweet burnt and roasty with a mild bourbon oakiness that lingers. Double yum.

Bottle. (thx for sharing, Papsoe) Black body with a small, tan head. Burnt, dryish nose, quite heavy, with mocha and some alcoholl. Dry flavor, quite burnt, with some licorice, mocha and a little alcohol. Full, dry body. Mocha, dried fruits, roasted malt and licorice in the finish. Dangerously quaffable for an imperial stout. (Bottle 47 cl) Courtesy of Degarth. Pours black and opaque with a handsome, creamy, light brown head. Intens and somewhat vinous aroma with hard roasted malts. Quite full-bodied, notes of hard roasted but also sweet malts and a hint of prunes. Again very delicate vinous notes, some sweet licorice and a lightly burned edge with some malt astringency. Not a huge Imperial Stout, but quite nice and pleasant. 041007
