Very dark brown. Sweet and full bodied. Molasses flavour. Not very bitter. Rather one dimensional.

Straw colour, gentle carbonation and minimal head. The aroma is grainy with a hint of grassy hop. There is a gentle spiciness to the hop up front. The finish is more prickly carbonation and sweet, very slightly doughy malts. OK macro.

re-rate from a can in Vietnam Dark brown colour. Thin head. Sugary aroma with light fruitiness and hints of roast. Somewhat light body, light roast, light fruit, some chocolate. Moderate bitterness comes out more in the finish, while the lactose sweetness is up front. Walks the line between a sweet stout and a foreign stout. Hilarious I never rated this when I lived in Cape Town and drank gallons of it. But whatever. I had the Tanzanian version, and wasn't impressed. Dark brown. Thin head. Definitely a little butter on the nose, and some light toasty malts. This is definitely grainy and buttery, with toasty. Not as good as the original, I would say. 3 5 5 2 11 = 2.6. Weak stuff. ZA version is quite a bit better.

Sampled in Cape Town, as Castle Lager Draught, apparently the same thing. Has a dull yellow, bronze type of colour, no head and generally doesn’t look at all that appetizing. The aroma is mostly grainy. The taste has some graininess, a little bit of creamed corn sweetness. There is a little bit of dryness in the finish but it’s still just an industrial lager.
