Description
In 1824 master brewer Johann Philipp Ledermann came to the small village Döllnitz near Halle and started brewing Gose at Döllnitz Manor. The brewery continued to brew gose till WW 2. After the war the manor brewey was dismantled and the original gose was brewed at several places up till 2015.
Since 2015 we brew our "Original Ritterguts Gose" in close collaboration with Brauerei Reichenbrand in Chemnitz. This small, classic family-brewery fulfills all the requirements necessary for the optimization of our very special brewing process -- in particular the availability of open-fermentation, which we consider a primary component in making a proper gose.

At the magic tree. Not sure what happened with this draft. As below, was expecting a somewhat salty thinner beer but this was not like any gose I ever had in the states. A little sticky and viscous from the start. Could not detect any salt or tartness what so ever. Odd, seems like a mildly hopped apa. Quite disappointing for this style. Will have to try it again if I ever see it again.

Many thanks for this beer to kevnic2008. Piwo jasne klarowne z poczatku, potem lekko zmetnione. Zapach stechlizny, mokrej scierki, ale fajne to aromaty no i troche kwiatow lakowych, tak mi sie kojarzy. Smak zupelnie inne i niestandardowe gose, ciut soli sporo przyjemnej kwaskowosci, kapusty kwaszonej jakby:) pszeniczne zbozowe ziarno takze wyczuwalne. Bardzo smaczne lekkie piwo doskonale i podkreslajace syty posilek. Ciekawa i historyczna etykieta. Polecam.

Keg at BD Helsinki. It pours cloudy gold with a tiny white head. The nose is soft, creamy, sour yoghurt, grainy, cracker, funk, hay and barnyard. The taste is crisp, mellow sourness, some acidity, creamy, natural yoghurt, cottage cheese, doughy, lactic twang, grainy and sherbet with a dry finish. Medium body and fine, prickly carbonation. Nice classic gose action.

On tap at Gourmet Haus in Redwood City. Pours a very slightly haze pale yellow with full white head. Aroma is lemon and salt, and flavor profiles follows this with a nice tartness that is driven more by the lemon than the salt. A moderate sourness from the lactic is restrained. Very pleasurable.

Alle hyller gose som spesiell, og ja, den er spesiell, men på ingen måte over-the-top. Syrlig, salt og hvete ... og god, men ikke ekstrem.

A light yellow beer with a big and white head. Aroma has lemon, lactic acid, salt. Totally fresh. Taste has sourness, wheat, lemon, salt and freshness. Almost medium bodied, slipperyr to drink. Good beer and the lactic acid is combined naturally to the other flavours. Very refreshning.

(500ml bottle from Systembolaget) Pours very lightly hazed medium gold with tiny white head and no lace. Aroma of tart lemon, salt, apple cidery fruitiness, berry?, grainy wheat, coriander (leaves and seeds), slightly sour and with a subtle overripe fruit/barnyard character. Palate has tart green apple, lemon zest, lactic yoghurt notes, salt right from the start, and some wheat/pils type lightly sweet grainy malt. In the middle, coriander seeds give a light bitterness, salt fairly apparent, grains, a little lactic, lemon zest. Finish is semi dry with salty/lactic character clinging to the roof of the mouth, faint green apple, lightly mineral. Light, slightly watery body with above average carb. Not bad, has the characteristics of the style but doesn’t really hold a candle to some new world interpretations of the style in terms of complexity or depth of flavour.

Paid $6.49 for a 500ml bottle at 7-11 Kittery, ME. Aroma is sour wheat, coriander and sea salt. Carbonation is on the fizzy/ a bit too high side. Base is grain and wheat with tart lemon and a very mild salt. Salt almost not noticed. Very mild acidity. I wonder how this brew has changed over the years? Jeez, I really need to take a trip to Germany.
