Description
We started out in 1996 as a small group of San Diego home brewers who simply wanted to make a better beer. In our exploration, we became obsessed with ingredients—tinkering, testing and tasting to find the perfect balance of taste and aroma. That adventurous spirit leads to award-winning beers in classic and unique styles while challenging our own tastes and expanding yours. We’re proud of our San Diego hometown, our employees, our beers, and our fans. We think of our employees as family, and you, our fans, as extended family. You’ll see us use #BPPROUD as a badge of pride and a way to further connect with our beer loving community.

On Tap @ The Wet Hop Event at the Hayward Bistro. Pours gold with a slight haze and bright white head (medium size bubbles). The aroma is mostly hops with fresh green, just picked, Cascade hops along with grapefruit hops, mild spicy hops and a sense of malt sweetness. The flavor just attacks the taste buds with spice and floral hop bitterness followed by grapefruit hop bitterness too. The wet hoppiness really shines through and moves toward slightly tart. There is almost no malt presence in this beer. Solid IPA.

Bottled. A deep red beer with a thin brown head. The aroma is sweet roasted with strong notes of chocolate as well as over ripe fruits. The flavor is sweet roasted with notes of cocoa beans combined with a slight acidity from the hard roasted malt. Thanks David (Rastacouere) for dragging this to Denmark.

Another $2.99 bomber from Bottle Barn! Nose of chocolate with some coffee and sweetness; clear dark brown with a medium beige head; flavor is chocolate and brown sugar with a tiny bit of background hop bitterness. Pretty decent porter but slightly thin body.

Bottle Pours a clear medium orange amber with a large thick creamy off white head. Lots of lacing. Big bitter piney aroma and very strong pine bitter flavort. Soapy and papery and put me off a bit. Huge dry bitter flavor and a full pallate with plenty of carbonation. Dry cardboardy trailer. Thanks BuckeyeBoy for sharing this trade.

12oz bottle pours out a clear amber topped with a long lasting cream off white head. A great hop aroma along with a little sweetness. A nice hop and caramel tast along with a full body.

Draft. Blackish beer with a nice tan head. Huge chocolate roast aroma. Chocolatey, roasty, coffee flavor with slight berry fruitiness. Hides alchol well. Body feels like too much oatmeal, but was also really foamy out of the tap, Medium body. Way too drinkable. Lingering chocolate. Let me say again: way to drinkable for 12%.

Draft, Purple beer with a tiny head. Sweet blackberry aroma. Blackberry, slight tart flavor with some earth. Needs more tartness. Lingering blackberry. Medium body. Not nearly as good as even LIndemann’s - no where near as tart (but it also doesn’t have the sweetness of LIndemann’s). It’s the only beer I didn’t bother to finish on a recent trip to San Diego.

Pours a clear orange color with a medium rocky off-white head that has fair retention. Large spots of lacing on the glass. Buttery hops aroma with hints of grass and cedar. Medium body with flavors of hops, sweet caramel malt and fruit. Dry, hoppy finish with a lingering buttery aftertaste. Unique and interesting overall.
