That adventurous spirit leads to award-winning beers in classic and unique styles while challenging our own tastes and expanding yours. We’re proud of our San Diego hometown, our employees, our beers, and our fans. We think of our employees as family, and you, our fans, as extended family. You’ll see us use #BPPROUD as a badge of pride and a way to further connect with our beer loving community.

Somethig of a floral hop aroma. Dark brassy color with a white head that left quickly. Medium bodied. Starts with something of a wheat character. Malt not particularly noticeable. Rather dry. The finish is lightly bitter. Overall it has fruit and bitter. The sort of thing that would not be surprising over the pond.

(Bottle 65 cl) Courtesy of Rastacouere. Clear, reddish brown with a beige head. Fat aroma of sweetish, roasted malt. Medium body with sweetish, roasted malt, fruity and berry-like with a mellow, sweet finish and a vague, ashy edge. 090507

Bottle. Pours an amber color with an off-white head. Dry hoppy aroma with hints of citrus. Sweet malty bitter flavor with lots of hops and citrus notes. Sweet malty finish with lots of hoppy bitterness in the aftertaste, with some citrus hints.

Pours with a big creamy off white head that puts out a flowery fruity hop aroma. The flavor is sweet, bordering on sticky, with a good supportive bitterness from the hops that lingers long into the finish. I really like this one.

Deep dark brown coloured body, almost black, with a very thin off-white head. Aroma of roasted malt, cherries, coffee, chocolate and some light cereal. Medium-bodied; Strong roasty flavours tucked in with chocolate and coffee along with a good malty backbone and tons of smooth sugars. Aftertaste shows more roasted flavours along with a good dose of caramel. Definitely a good one to try - this is almost a stout...but this goes down very nicely. Pick this up if you can find it! I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from BevMo in Caramel Mountain (San Diego), California on 17-April-2007.

Draught at PP 12 hour Belgian Fest on 3/24/07
Ruddy and amber hues swirl about an auburn-chestnut body with a dash of beige head that laces lightly. Light haziness but still a strong clarity.
Very dry and with obvious acetic acid notes, the aroma also has a nice malic cherry-like fruitiness and lighter brett notes of lime and lychee. Some sweet toffee dots the finish, but it’s never really sweet, just amply malted. Pretty good strength of aroma as well.
Plenty of flemish sours smell pretty good from the nose, but then fall apart in flavor, fortunately this one was just as good if not better. Light toffee and caramel notes with pale malt suggestions are very nicely attenuated but still leave a mark. Lactobacillus and pediococcus are definitely at work here, laying below the brett and producing light yogurt and grapefruit rind flavors. Malic acid gives a good tart fruitiness and even a little oiliness that seems to stick to the teeth. Carbonation could be a bit more tight, as it’s rather unconcentrated and a bit fizzy. On the very end, the coconut flavors that CharlesDarwin notes are actually apparent diacetyl. Noticeable, but very forgiveable, especially if you’ve ever had Russian River temptation or supplication. Some dry wood tannins and more acids create a very dry, lip-smacking finish. Nice stuff.

(Bottle 65 cl) Clear, warm amber golden with a tall, dense, off-white head leaving laces - thick, dense shaving foam style laces. Strong aroma of pine and citrus. Medium body with some caramel and lots and lots of lovely, fresh, citrusy aroma hops leaving a solid bitterness. Nice and classical West Coast IPA. 260307

Draught chalice at the Liar’s Club on 3/23/07
Very dark, black coffee-like appearance, with violet and crimson edges and a thin sheaf of tan head that manages to stick around for a while. Little/no lacing. Clarity is low.
Soft, yet sweet vanilla cream-like maltiness has pieces of bitter and milk chocolate folded in to it with coffee sweeping in quickly to add dryness to the nose and a bit more hardness than is first perceived. Light vinousness and oak notes emerge on the end, adding complexity but not any harshness, thankfully. Sweet malts make a reprise, rich and full of milk chocolate (light lactic notes as well), with some salty roast and even a touch of delicate prunes. Though the oak/bourbon nuances add more power to the aroma, it still comes off as smooth and rather soothing for its strength. Maybe a touch too much on the coffee, but it is a coffee imperial porter, afterall. Alcohol is only glimpsed briefly, after warming.
Buttertoffee and strong vanilla immediately give way to a cocoa dryness, ripe with bitter coffee notes, and chocolate covered prunes/raisins. Some said smoke was apparent, but I seemed to get more of a salty roast-like quality, with black malt bitterness and moderate oakiness. Very soft texture, overall, however, with low carbonation. Big pale malt backbone goes the distance and makes for a supple palate without becoming cloying. Coffee seems, again, a bit too strong and dry, but not glaringly so, I guess. Alcohol well-concealed with no flaws. A nutty character either coming from the yeast or neutral tannins, adds a bit of chewiness to the texture. Glad to have one of their beers on draught, as I was less than impressed with their bottles.

Aroma of malt, citrus and a bit of vanilla. Seems floral. Copper color with a vigorous beige head. Starts a bit thin, with malt quickly followed by citrus hop. Somewhat creamy. The citrus accompanies the malt through the finish. Really nice ESB.

Aroma of pine hop backed by a bit of malt. Ruby tinged amber color with a white head that disappeared leaving a trace of lacing. Flavor starts with a mouthful of pine, but grapefruit follows quickly. The malt is everpresent, but this is all about the hop. As the commercial description says. This is really hoppy.
