Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with a large brown head. The aroma is vaguely skunky with a sour tang. The mouthfeel is rather thin for a stout. The flavor is roasted malts and a sharp bitterness. Not very good.

Pour is a nice looking red with a white head. Aroma is also nice mix of malts and a bit of fruityness in there. Flavor though is a bit weak and watery. Some malts and biterness show up but nothing to put this over the top. Looks and smells good but that’s about it.

Rating added 1/30/2006Very dark red color, almost so that you can’t see through it. Some iron in the smell, a faint acid taste but also a bit burnt in it. Not among the best stouts I’ve had.4/3/4/3/9=2.3

Aroma is weak and unconvincing-roasted malt. Strange oat smell that isn’t offensive, just seems odd. Color is nice and dark with tan foamy head that leaves some nice lacing. Flavor is watery and not as robust as expected. Pretty plain... nothing really noteworthy although it has a little more sour kick than I’m accustomed to with a stout.

Pours dark ruby with a lasting tan head. Slightly smoked (bacon?) roasted malt nose not a lot of chocolate or coffee. Not overly dominating in mouth, with some very roasted burnt cereal with some chocolate. Finish is dryish with more burntness. Not bad, but not one of the best stout

A surprisingly complex beer at the top of its style. Aromas of chocolate and coffee, some smoke, and teriyaki, and port.. Black with a large tan head. Multi dimensional flavor, smokey peat,, port. Heavy palate but easy to drink.
