16 oz. can. Pours a purplish, red color, with a big, fluffy, pink head. Lots of blackberry, lemon juice, brown sugar, and light caramel. Sweet and fruity, with a tart kick. Medium body, with a syrupy, sticky, and biting palate. This is an aggressive and flavorful sour. Nice.

On tap at brewery – back in 2015. It’s been over five years since I last drank this beer, but it’s still fresh in the memory. Pours jet black with a dense sticky beige head. In the mouth these is coffee grounds, cocoa nibs and liquorice. A viscose texture that makes you feel it’s rolling up into little balls on your tongue. One of my favourite American beers. [ NB I noted it as 10.7%, and the brewery website currently says its 11%]

Taster at Brix. Pours a lovely, hazy, reddish color, with a thin, tan head. Lots of tart raspberries, with good smooth spruce, lime, cola, and rosemary. Sweet and citrusy, with a nice, mellow tart flavor. Medium body, with a thick and creamy mouthfeel. This is surprisingly heavy and complex for a fruity sour. Quite nice.

On tap @ the brewery. Orangish brown appearance with a light brown head. Heavy oak, sherry / port, plum, black grape, chocolate, caramel, fig, rich aroma. Medium full body. A touch goopy. Brown sugar, caramel apple, old port, vanilla flavor. Finishes clean. Not too boozy. Tons of dark fruit. Prunes, brown sugar, and tannins. Oxidized but I like it. Fun.

On tap @ the brewery. A bit hazy golden orange appearance with a white head. Banana, some tropical, pepper, vanilla, oak aroma. Medium light body. Moderate low sweetness, low bitterness. Twangy, doughy, blood orange, pear, heavy oak flavor. A little boozy. Hint of plastic. Pass.

On tap @ the brewery. Reddish brown appearance with a light brown head. The aroma is really a little bland- some char, apple, brown sugar. Moderate high sweetness. Low bitterness. Lots of banana and apple. Some chemical notes but really that may just be the heavy booze. Pass.
