Tap at the brewery - clear dark gold - nose of crackery malt, light honey, moderate toasted grain - flavor is quite dry, mildly mineralic, moderately grainy, mildly spicy - some moderate bitterness and strong toasted grains in the finish - crisp, crackery finish - not bad.

Tap @ Black Bottle Fort Collins. Pours a clear, reddish brown appearance with a small off white head. Boozy, caramel, somewhat spicy, toasty malty aroma. Spicy, chewy nutty, caramel, harsh boozy flavor. Kind of watery as well.

Tap @ Loveland Aleworks. Pours a black appearance with a dark brown hear. Charred, anise, dark chocolate aroma that’s a bit more dull than the normal version. Grainy wood, tannin rich, dark chocolate, anise flavor with a somewhat harsh finish and not as smooth as the normal version.
