Description
We are an artisan brewery located 30 miles northeast of San Francisco in Concord, CA. Our brewery lies at the confluence of the mighty Sacramento river and majestic Mt. Diablo. Our name comes from the Black Diamond (coal) Mines, 8 miles east of the brewery. Here in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, nearly 4 million tons of “black diamonds” were removed from the local hills.

Bottle from BevMo in Walnut Creek, CA. Pours a clear orange amber with a little white head. Equal aromas of caramel and citrus and floral hop. Medium body with mild carbonation. Citrus aspects make it seem a bit tart. Astringent, even. Finish is puckerish and hoppy bitter. Good IPA.

Draft. Blackish beer with an off-white head. Chocolate, caramel, and cocoa aroma. Big chocolate flavor with light coffee and vanilla. Medium bodied. Chocolate and big vanilla flavors linger. Chocolate starts out strong and vanilla takes over. The beer is just screaming to be put into a bourbon barrel.

At NorCal Brewers Guild Festival at Raley Field. Light floral aroma. Clear coppery amber color with a white head (no lacing). Thinnish mouthfeel. Malt is balanced by floral hop. It’s not all that bitter. A bit English. Maybe a lot English. Nice finish flavor.

At NorCal Brewers Guild Festival at Raley Field. Banana aroma. Hazy gold color with great white head. Starts with banana, followed by light clove spice. There’s a lot going on in this one. Clean fruity finish. Delicious.

Nutty malt aroma, along with some hop. Clear copper color with a frothy white head. It laces somewhat. Starts with some floral hop, quickly followed by marvelous malt. The combination results in a toffee/caramel aspect. Amazingly enough the finish is relatively dry. The result is something difficult to describe, but it is quite nice. Leaves a dry bitter in the mouth. Marvelous.
