On Tap at the Boise Ram Black with just a scant tan head, Plenty of sweet roast aromas and lots of fresh wood and bourbon. Big on the flavors as well. Very woody and some sweet dark maltiness.

Bomber thanks to the Boise crew. 2015 vintage. Pours a dark brown color with a medium to small white head. A big toffee and smoke nose. Very big smoked malts, sweet, chocolate, ashy, really tastes like rum not gin. Bigger smoke and dark malts. Very smooth. Lovely.

22oz bottle from brewery. Medium amber with foamy head. Aroma features bourbon barrel notes, and some caramel malts. Taste mutes the barrel notes and features some rich malts, leather, tobacco. Pretty nice on this bottled offering.

Fairly clear reddish brown. Thin light tan wispy head. Light soft toasted woody malt aromas. More of the same flavors cartelized malts a touch of brown sugar and that distinctive rye sharp bite. Plenty bitter but a balanced strong beer. Lingering bite and a smooth but clean body. Quite good

Draft at Boise brewpub. Dark brown/black, small skin of head. Faint aroma of roast grains, taste too is kind of weak. Bitterness is big, but not flavor. Seems thin too.

Shorty at brewpub. Dark, but clear, amber, small foamy head, streaky lacing. Malty aroma hints at some rye funk. Taste brings the hops in the mix, adding bitterness to the Savory/ spicy rye. Nice overall, could use more heat.

Shorty at Boise brewpub. Dark Amber with foamy beige head. Weak aroma and taste, but mostly darker malts come through. Big bitter finish, like 9 volt battery taste, no flavor, just bitter.
