bottle. Clear golden, fizzy ofwhite to orange head that soon goes away. sodapop carbonation.. aroma is malty and fruity, almost citrussy, also some burnt or roasted notes. flavor is sweet malty, hint of clean alcohol, sweet nutty fruity note, bit of a booze bomb, somewhat thin bodied , quite sweet and quite alc strong. not my favorite. bah.

D5G Hannibal forårsbryg, brewed by braunstein. De 5 gaarde was rather poor industrial boring beer back in the days, but now braunstein brew them, and the braunstein versions are much, much better. WTG braunstein in persuading whoever is behind the brand to go for quality rather than the boring stuff they sold before. clear golden, smoth offwhite head. mild malty, slightly flowery, slightly metallic aroma. kinda boring. flavor is malty, whole grainy, sweet in a nice malty way, faint herbal bitterness. A bit like a classic, only more flavor and less hops. A very malty pale lager, not that bad, doesn't come off as east european boozy premium pale lager, and not as south european super pale alc. forward premium pale lager. Will work well with food.

bottle slightly hazy dark orange, white head. beer spilled when opened, that was a surprise. mild caramelly, slighlty yeasty spicy aroma. 5 flavor is quite bitter, nutty bitter, burnt plastic, not really very tasty, perhaps this is planned, it sort of tastes like an english bitter, just more malts, more caramel, but still that almost gin like spicy bitterness.. the bitterness does not go very well with the subtle sweetness. not impressed. not worse or better than many other cheap danish christmas beers, i would have expected braunstein to be able to make something a bit more tasty.

50 cl bottle very very dark brown, smooth brown head. aroma is dry bitter roasted malts, dark fruits, christmas spices. a bitter spiced roasted malty dark fruity beer, quite decent dunkler bock aroma. flavor is roasted malts, bitter nuts, dark bitter caramel. quite a lot of flavor for a beer from 5 gaarde as i remember them.. Turns out they were once brewed by harboe, but now braunstein, and this is certanly showing in the quality and flavor.., a spice forward danish christmas beer, quite a bit towards the dry end of the spectrum of that kind of beer, which suits it well. Much better than i had expected, given other 5 gaarde i have tasted (the retired ones from harboe) have been quite boring. Mental note : re-rate all 5 gaarde beers
