Bottle, at Kristiansand Ølfestival. It pours a clear, golden body under a dense, white head. There’s some pale malts in the aroma, with grass and fruityness doing good work too. The flavor has a nice bitterness, dealing easily with the pale malts, and there’s also pine cone notes, grass and a generic fruityness. Full to medium body and a nice carbonation level. Quite dry, both initially and in the end. A really fine pilsener, pity there’s so few of them. 150822

200ml draught at Nedre Foss Gård. Covering white head to a clear golden body. Fruity nose with peaches to the fore. Peaches and leafy hop bitterness towards the ending. Rounded mouth feel. Pretty nice (Oslo 11.12.2015).

On tap at Crowbar, Oslo. Slightly hazy golden with a creamy, white head. Very floral aroma, too much for my taste, the smell reminds me more of some refreshener for bathrooms than beer. Some citrusy notes to, malt and some yeasty notes. Strange, a bit grainy with acidic hints and a rather light bitterness. Fair enough, I guess, but glad I only had the small glass of this one.

Flaske 330ml fra Eurospar Tomasjord. Drukket på Bergstua. Veldig lys gyldengulbrun. Litt uklar. Lavt skum med nydelig kniplingslacing. Beskjeden aroma av gress. Litt søt. Smaken behagelig. Bra balanse. Myk munnfølelse. Litt søt malt med innslag av korn. Tørr etter hvert. Sikkert en utmerket tørsteslukker.

330ml bottle picked up at EuroSpar Tomasjord. Loose white head to a slightly hazy, yellow-gold body. Clingy lacing. Herbal hops and buttery malts on the nose. Taste of mild caramel joined by a buttery touch. Careful bittersweet endnotes. Smooth in the mouth. Well-made version of the style (shared with djoeye, Tromsø 11.10.2015).

Sampled at Vill & Syrlig 2015. Don’t really know if this is the “vår” edition or not, but served as Sundbytunet Gårdsøl at the Vill & Syrlig. Different entry at Untapped, but that doesn’t have to mean a thing. Anyway, after ten minutes fiddling with the tap I manage to get served an unclear golden beer with a huge, creamy, long lasting white head. Aroma is a bit unusually and definitively characterized by the yeast. It gives me an association of farmhouse, but not in a Belgium sort of Saison style. Can’t really put my finger on it and it’s not very strong. Some mild pale malt in the background and some kind of fruity/spicy yeast that might be closer to baking yeast than regular beer yeast – and not exactly that either, but my best description. The flavor is rather light malty, grain and again this yeast with a more fruity flavor than expected as the aroma was more spicy. Quite refreshing but not really that exiting. Medium to thin body and moderate in aftertaste. This is a rather stupid rating but the best I managed.

33cl bottle from Gulating Ølutsalg avd Sandefjord. Pours clear, pale golden with a white head. Rather mild grainy aroma with some slightly fruity notes, hints of cooked vegetables, caramel and honey and some herbs and grass. Medium to moderate sweet with mild grainy flavours, modest hoppy notes and bitterness quite noticeable, but on the light side. Hardy much better than the regular, industrial premium lager or pilsner. Quite disappointing.
