Purchased at Discount Liquors in Milwaukee, WI; enjoyed on my 30th birthday with a good friend before watching the Home Run Derby. Appearance pitch black, like black coffee, with thin tan/cream head that rims around the glass. Aroma like a hodge podge of coffee, bourbon, peppermint, chocolate, and lactose...except that I can’t identify each ingredient separately, just smells like all those ingredients thrown into something. Taste is pretty good, its slightly smooth, very strong. The bourbon really comes through, each sip is somewhat shot-like. Seems like the peppermint provides a slight bite, coffee notes also apparent in the finish, leaves a slightly sour feeling. Also, the lactose/milkyness of this fades in the flavor, doesn’t taste very thick to me. Its pretty good stuff, happy to have given it a shot.

Received in trade from azaaron, thanks for the opportunity. The bottle opened with a noticeably load pop, no foam over, but the first pour filled my glass with foam. It took a good 15 minutes from opening until I was able to sample this brew. Pours a solid dark brown color with faint ruby highlights when held to light. Aromas of light chocolate, caramel and tart fruit. Not a whole lot going on in the aroma. The taste has all the right players in the game. Roasted malts, coffee, chocolate and caramel with a modicum of dark fruits. The mouthfeel is ruined by the over carbonation every sip has co2 sharply piercing the front of my tongue and sometimes expanding bubbles fill my mouth. Medium bodied beer. Once the bubbles settled down this became quite a tasty brew. I’d love to try another of these sometime and re rate.

22oz bomber. Opaque brown-black with a frothy beige head. Hardcore peppermint in the aroma, think peppermint patty. Quite different, highly unique. The peppermint actually works quite nice as a balancing bitter to the big roasted, chocolate malts. A good bottle to split, taking one of these to the head is pretty intense. Well executed, a little artificial and overflavored, but still nice.

One of the better blond ales I have had, due to the liberal use of hops. Yellow beer, and a nice hop aroma and flavor. ABR 2010.

Draft at The Old Fashioned. Opaque black with an oily head. Pleasant coffee aroma. Smooth and mellow body, somewhat dry. Roasty with a subdued cocoa edge. Easy drinking, but full bodied enough to slowly sip. Solid Stout, with some coffee edges. Well done.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Courtesy of Skyview. Pours a very cloudy golden with chunks of floaties and a tall and lively off-white head that leaves some lacing. Sweetish apple aroma. Medium body with lightly sweet apple notes and a dry and lightly bitter finish. Very heavy carbonation. But quite fresh really. 180808
