Sample at Collaboration Fest on 03/21/2015. Dark brown color with a medium thin light beige head that dissipates quickly. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of malt, roasted nuts and fruit. Light-bodied with flavors of sweet malt, peanut and vinous fruit. The finish is roasty malt and ripe fruit. Interesting idea but ultimately doesn’t quite work out. Slightly above average overall.

Draft - medium amber pour - thick, soapy lace - nose of bready, rich vienna and munich maltiness, plus a dash of zesty, fruity hellertau hops - creamy texture - fairlg clean, but rich and toasty maltiness dominates the approach -quite pleasant up front - moderate hallertau bitterness compliments the toasty maltiness late - sadly, the finish has a mild huskiness to it that makes this less enjoyable - and the sweetness is a bit high in the finish - ultimately a middle of the road vienna, but a valiant effort.

Listed as Rum Barrel Quad with same ABV, so I assume it is the same beer - Mostly clear amber – Whoa – this smells and tastes like straight up rum – and cheap rum, at that – boozy, with loads of alcohol flavor – incredible high sweetness (like drinking raw sugar dissolved in liquid) – thin bodied – a lot of alcohol heat – some oak comes in late to smooth things out and add slightly more depth, but this is mostly one-dimensional and hot, tasting mostly like watered-down rum – pass.

Listed as 8.8% - Lighlty hazy straw color – typical overly sweet American style tripel – sticky honey sweetness throughout, with some pleasant notes of wildflowers, followed by strong citrus esters and overly spicy phenols, as well as a prominent alcohol burn – finish of apricot and mild phenols, with long-lingering sticky sweetness – overly spicy and alcoholic finish – meh – 636311

Cloudy light orange – nose of sweet citrus, ginger, and prominent Golding hop character – orange pulp, light esters – smells a bit too sweet for my tastes for a low abv saison – the flavor is much the same – fairly sweet orange flesh, mango – light coriander and a slight saaz bite to it – mild spicy phenolic character – mild banana esters – find of watery tail end, but it gets a little flinty, dry, and spicy (white pepper), so it is somewhat pleasant, and a light tail end funkiness ends things on a high note – a middle of the road American attempt, IMHO.

hazy gold – nose of spicy tettnag and coriander, as well as a lightly phenolic spiciness – light but creamy in body/texture – medium sweet flavor, with a bit of creaminess from the wheat used – honey, floral notes, followed by moderate orange peel which is complimented well by slight hop character – lightly peppery phenols finish – decent brew.
