On draft at Caps & Taps. It pours a dark brown color with a brown head. The aroma has brandy with some s’mores and dark chocolate. The flavor is very woody and hot. Lots of alcohol, chocolate and brandy notes. Good, but a little too hot for me to want to try again.

Bottle purchased at the SF Beer Week event at the brewery. Pours near jet black with minimal head. Vanilla imparts a sweetness on the beer, a little artificial tasting. Beyond that, it is a solid beer in line with the non-vanilla version.

On draught at the brewery as part of SF Beer Week Event. The highlight of the tasting. Overt coconut and nuanced chocolate in support. The combination of the coconut and barrel led to a wonderful, rich and full mouthfeel.

On draught at the brewery as part of SF Beer Week Event. While still good, this was the lowest ranked of the beers I tried at the release. The coffee was subdued and I did not get much barrel in this one.

375 ml bottle. Gold wax. The beer is black with a small light brown head. Some pretty good legs on it. Nice mix of vanilla and fudgey stout. Well integrated bourbon barrel. Mild spice - I’d love to try the rye barrel version. Some nice caramel and molasses baseline richness. Nice and sweet. Full flavor but not quite as punchy as expected. Perhaps, the barrel just took a little bit off of that creamy mouthfeel, which washes out the flavor. Still, it’s nice and chocolatey with a good amount of vanilla. Vanilla doesn’t take over but is strong enough to make you believe this is a vanilla variant. The barrel is a bit stronger but still nicely balanced against the stout. The feel is fairly full and creamy, though I imagine it was better pre-barrel. Not up to the best that I’ve tried from Alpha Acid but quite solid.
