Description
Ingenious Brewing is the brainchild of owners Mike and Justin. Mike is a multi-award winning home brewer turned professional brewer who has been honing his brewing technique for over 15 years in his home state of Pennsylvania. Justin, originally from Houston, began brewing with Mike over 10 years ago while on station in Pennsylvania for work. Both holding degrees in science, they enjoyed tinkering with recipes by applying knowledge of the chemical properties found in the ingredients of beer. Over time this process led to exceptional and inventive beer. Ingenious perfectly symbolizes our philosophy that brewing beer is equal parts science and creativity.

Can. Black with a tan head that doesn't last. Aroma of very sweet coffee, some roast and vanilla. Fullish bodied, low carbonation. Sweet but not as sweet as threatened with nuts lightening the palate and adding space. The coffee then floats a little before a finish that drifts off pleasantly.

The label calls this a hazy india pale ale. On RateBeer it is indicated as a hazy imperial ipa. Whatever. My 16 oz can came from Mr. T's here locally who manages to keep me in beers to rate. My Cowtown tulip glass stands ready to receive the pour, yes, it is hazy so that is addressed, with a milky yellow body completed by an appropriate top of completely white foam. I smell juice and pine. A taste is in order. Orange rind, melon, a bit of hops, grass, pine, malt and enough meadow to roll around in. A surprising bitterness for the style. Essentially a pretty good beer to drink.

Panda at home, thanks to the Wingmane, 14/01/23. Almost clear golden blonde with a good sized just off white covering. Nose is ripe melon, light perfume, citric tinged straw, toasted malts, pineapple. Taste comprises orange peel, grass, ripe melon, flicker of pine, soft grains, light bread dough, floral, grapefruit. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close splashed with mellow light juicy hop bitterness. It's fine ... middle of the road DIPA ... a little stuck in 3rd gear.

My 16 oz can was acquired at Mr. T's, the local beer joint that takes it seriously. Another hazy IPA, surprise, surprise, time to see what it offers. I have ready to receive the pour my Great Heights tulip glass. The body is an unclear, light orange finished by a representative top of off-white foam. I get a strong scent of oranges and a light touch of pine. The taste follows muchly along, Orange, some lemon, a slender amount of hops and white bread. More sweet than it is bitter, not unusual for the style. A tasty drink, just not doing anything different than dozens of others.

Ingenious Maple Cranberry Tart 6.8% Fruit punch red color with copious pink foam that leaves generous jacking behind. It has a big sharp cranberry aroma from far away but a closer whiff and POW you get hit with 100% pure luscious maple syrup. My first thought on drinking this was HOLY CRAP THIS IS GOOD. Usually you barely get any maple coming through but this just oozes lush maple goodness which is the cut by tart cranberries before coming back in the finish. Bloody delicious, wish I’d bought more. For some reason I thought it was a cider when I ordered it. Nope, sour beer out of Texas! Not sure how they got that maple flavor without the yeast chewing through it to make more alcohol but kudos to them. Great.
