Has a dullish, opaque look with a decent head. Lots of weedy hops but a hint of diacetyl in there - ha, a little bit too fresh for its own good.

At the brewery. Marshmallow and peach candy sour. Opaque, yellow. Med head. I get both the keynote ingredients and a decent sour. Well less marshmallow than vanilla. It’s not bad actually.

500mL bottle, pours a deep dark mahogany, like red grape juice, with a small, quickly-dissipating pink head. Nose is really vinous, with loads of red grape must, intense oak, lots of vinous character and some wild yeast. Flavour is quite tannic and vinous, with a prominent vinous character, red grape must, some gentle wild yeast, lots of oak, and plenty of tannins that dry the mouthfeel out. Complex, oaky, vinous mouthfeel—really seems like a beer-wine hybrid. I really dig this.

On tap at Yellow Dog, pours a hazy golden with a small white head. Aroma is full of lacto, with subdued citrus and grainy straw-like notes. Flavour is very yogurty, with lots of lacto upfront and dominating. There's very low level tartness, with a touch of citrus. Nothing complex or interesting, but it's clean and drinkable. Okay.

On tap at Yellow Dog, pours a hazy golden with a small white head. Aroma is subdued, with crisp biscuity malt and a touch of citrus hops. Flavour is gently hopped, with bright citrus hops and doughy, bready malt. Crisp and gently bitter finish, with a touch of fruitiness. Clean and pleasant but there's really not much character here. Meh.

On tap at Darby's, pours a dirty dark red / maroon with a tiny head. I'm told that this is apparently the right beer — but I doubt it. I'll rate it anyway, as I can see no evidence of this beer anywhere else online, and they insist it's the right beer even after checking the keg in back. OK, whatever... Nose is sour, with subdued tart fruits and maybe a touch of brett. Flavour is pretty messed up, with lots of tart jammy fruits, and some light funk. Muddled, messy, acidic, and yeasty. This is messed up — what the hell is this supposed to be?

Poured from the tap. Murky orange with small white head. Aroma is all peach candy gummies. Taste is a bit more subdued peach candy with a touch of marshmallow. Novelty beer that doesn’t follow through on the taste. --- Beer merged from original tick of Freakout - Banana Stout on 25 Feb 2022 at 06:37 - Score: Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 7 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 6.5. Original review text: Poured from the tap. Black with small beige head. Roast malt, underlying banana, a bit of cacao, just a hint of vanilla. Expected more banana honestly or maybe just a little less roast. Overall it’s a bit unbalanced, some clash going on here.

Can from The Gull, North Vancouver
Pale blond colour, hazy. Mild smell of sulfur, followed by wet paper, fart. Some corn flavour, weak, sweetish, but also so because of the absence of hopping and bitterness; tiny acidity.
Pseudo Lager, they took a boring American Lager and removed even more character; beers like this, hardly better than macro lagers, are a shame for "craft" breweries.
