Description
David Cole and Peter Erickson are the founders and co-owners of Epic Brewing Company. Cole and Erickson, originally from California, started an international aquaculture company in Utah in 1992. In 2008, Utah law changed allowing these two entrepreneurs to pursue their longtime dream of opening a strong beer microbrewery in Utah, like those they frequented in the Golden State.
Admittedly, beer geeks, foodies, and "Epic" adventure junkies, share a passion for making and drinking fine ales and lagers. The Epic team has a strong belief in doing everything "all out."

Gott

12 oz. can, at an open bar. The aroma is vanilla, orange peel, spruce, lemongrass, hay, and chalk. Sweet and malty, with a drying bitterness. Medium body and crisp. Solid, but nothing special.

22oz bottle picked up at the state store. Pours clear light golden with a medium sized off-white head, good lacing. Dank, grassy, citrus peel, lime, zesty. Good.

On tap at The Beer Junction, pours black with almost no head. Aroma brings out whiskey barrels, pumpkin spice, and cocoa. Flavour is very sweet and dessert-like, with lots of treacly caramel, pumpkin spices, and toffee. Very sweet and treacly, with minimal barrel character. A bit too cloying. But good.

650mL bottle, pours black with a small beige head. Aroma brings out subtle whiskey barrels, dusty cocoa nibs, and some earthy coffee. Flavour is full of earthy cocoa nibs, some whiskey barrels, and some coffee. Takes a while to realize the integration, but this is very nice.

Bought at Liquor Shed. No dating on the 16 ounce can.

It pours a clear deep amber with a finger of foam, has some decent lacing.

Bread and caramel malt nose with a light presence of hops. The malt is king in the smell.

Bread and caramel malt is big in the taste. Kind of earthy, some sweetness, very little bitterness. I reckon that makes it fairly authentic to the style.

Good mouthfeel. Without any dating, I can't estimate how old this is despite it showing up very recently. We don't always get fresh product. Still, I do like it.

22 oz. bottle, pours jet black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out lots of cinnamon, cocoa, whiskey barrels, and a touch of Mezcal. Flavour is rich and complex, with subtle cinnamon, cocoa, whiskey barrels, Mezcal, and a touch of vanilla. Rich, decadent, but not brutal at all. Lovely.

Best before April 17th 2023. ~6 month window. Wow.

Pours a hazy orange yellow with an impressive head of foam, good lacing.

It smells very piney, juicy, dank, very bitter nose.

The taste is piney, juicy, dank, melon, light onion, very bitter.

"India Pale Ale with natural flavors added" it says on the can.

Good mouthfeel.

Interesting collaboration, one 4pack will be enough for me. The bitter dankness wears on my palate.

16oz can from Brewers Haven. Cloudy golden pour, thin white foamy head. Hoppy aroma, pine, fruity. Taste gets much more interesting, piney mixed with citrus and dank. Kind of all over the place. But the more you drink, the more sense it makes....
