Description
The story of Bear Republic, like most other craft brewers, begins with homebrewing. It was the spark for our passion to create quality, hand-crafted beers. We are a family-owned brewery, located in the heart of Sonoma County, California. The company was established by the Norgrove family in 1995, with Richard G. Norgrove as brewmaster.
After 11 years of rapid growth, we opened our Factory 5 brewery in Cloverdale, California, where we brew and package all our beer that goes to market. We hand select our ingredients for each batch, the grains and hops we use are chosen for their unique characteristics and the recipes and formulations are patiently developed over time. Many recipes start as a home-brew and then develop into the commercial beer available in many retail outlets today. We pride ourselves in using our established methods while always looking to improve efficiencies and techniques that allow us to provide quality beer to share with the world.
Beginning 2023 thw brewery was acquired by Drake’s Brewing.

12oz bottle. This one features Vic Secret, Citra, Galaxy. Light tan-orange body. Foamy white head. A rather awesome IPA, I would still call it West Coast. Almost looks filtered, way cleaner than a NE. Mild bitterness, juicy Galaxy. Pretty much a great new school West Coast IPA riding the haze train.

Pour is a kind of hazy with a large white head. Aroma is a very juicy citrus with some apricot and melon. Flavor is more citrus with a surprising amount of white grape present. Finish leaves some juicy fruit on the tongue. This was a better then average version of the style. Lots of citrus and grape with no bitterness or alcohol felt.

Bottle. Aroma is resin and pine hops, earthy, bit of rye weirdness. Taste amps up the rye, bit of caramel. Sight sourness maybe. Quite interesting. Pretty dry. Rerate at Dig. Nice. Rye weirdness, chewy, fruity, feels boozy. Nice. Resin. Juicy. Good stuff. Up a couple of points.

Bottle from Tanakaya. Quite clear golden colour with a small off-white head. Aroma is bitter hops, bit of citrus, feels like lime to me, bit of pine too. Also biscuity malt. Taste is less bitter than i expected, maybe my bottle is old. It is however very nice. Citrus at the start with a lot of malt coming through afterwards. Touch of spice in there too. Very easy to drink. Nice light carbonation. Finish is lingering bitterness, grapefruit and lemon. Very nice.

Can from Cap Tap. Pours hazy gold with a creamy white head. Aroma has ripe pineapple with some mild citrus. Suggests juiciness. Med body at least. Flavor is more passionfruit than pineapple, but there's citrus/pine as well. Slight burn - I put that to hop. Juicy. Not too dry, but not really sweet. Bitter! Very good flavor.
