Sample at SBWF 2013. Clear golden with a small head. This was a fairly soft IPA with pine, citrus, some mango, light malt and some grass. An ok one.

Bottle shared at CBC Clerkenwell - London. Many thanks to Jack for the CO obscurity. Pours clearish gold with a creamy, off-white head. Some ripe fruits in the nose, light alcohol, faint caramel, tangerine. Medium sweet flavor with juicy, ripe citrus fruits, doughy bread, toasty sugars, more tangerines. Medium bodied with fine, massaging carbonation. Moderate warmth to finish, light doughy malts, tangerines. Very decent.

Craft Clerkenwell tasting. Thanks Jack. Light haze, amber beer, good off white bubbly head. Palate is light and dry. Light grapey fruits go nicely with mellow vanilla oak. Light yeast. Fluffy airy finish.

Bottle thanks to the trade. Pours black with a dark brown head taht dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of bitter dark grains with some coffee and a good amount of boozy bourbon. Flavor starts with dark grains and bitter chocolate with a strong bitter bourbon finish.

Pour is initially fizzy and unappealing, but the carbonation quickly dies down and leaves a fairly thick, frothy tan lace - nose is dominated by chocolate and caramel maltiness at first, but there is a balancing bitterness and tartness, coupled with some earthy/peaty notes that makes up for the initial sticky sweetness - low carbonation, medium body - initially quite sweet, but some roast, char, and bitterness develop through the middle to balance - some espresso and bittersweet dark chocolate - finish is lighty earthy, medium dry, somewhat bitter - a little hint of peat at the very end - I’m liking this - quite a traditional rendition.

1 pint bottle - mostly clear light amber - fluffy, well-sustained head - nose is a bit sticky sweet - caramel - some woody pine resin hop character - soft carbonation - fairly creamy in the mouth - caramel sweetness, some doughy yeast character - very resinous, woody hop character through the middle, followed by some spicy and garlicky summit - finish is watery, a little sugary - not without its merits, but kind of a poor attempt.

"You remember drinkin’ horchata" - I don’t remember the next line of that song, but it is now going to be stuck in my head the rest of the night - nearly black, ruby tint on the edges, fizzy lace - looks like cola - nose is as advertised - milk sugar sweetness, vanilla, lots of cinnamon - a little bit of dark malt char and alcohol remind you it’s beer - medium soft carbonation in the mouth - texture is a little watery and body is a little thin for something so.strong - spicy cinnamon up front, followed by moderate vanilla sweetness, tempered by some tartness and acidity (acidity gets a little sharp on the tail end, though) - finish is spicy and medium sweet - a bit thin, and not nearly as interesting or complex as I was hoping.
