16 oz. can, pours black with a small tan head. Nose is fairly laid back, with a nice roasted malt character and subdued earthy hops. Flavour is timid for the style, with gentle toasted malt, soft earthy hops, and crusty bread. Needs more hops and roast, but is balanced well and has nice flavours; just needs more oomph. Good, but underwhelming.

473mL can. Pours black with a beige head. Fresh pine, dark chocolate, and roasted malts on the nose. Flavour has fresh pine, chocolatey malts, a bit yeasty, pretty gentle roast. The components are nice, but I want more of all of them. Not bad.

On tap at Bottleworks, pours black with a medium tan head. Aroma is full of medium roasted malt, spruce tips, and plenty of hops. Flavour is dominated by roasted malt and spruce tips, with plenty of hops to back. Very smooth palate, with lots of deep malt, spruce and hops in good balance. Excellent.

Taster flight at Ferment. Clear, medium golden pour, thin, tight foamy head. Fruity aroma, candy, faint pine. ight dryness.Taste is mildly sweet, fruity, some piney hops slipping in at the back. With the hops comes some dryness. A chameleon of a beer.

Taster flight at brewery. Dark brown pour, spotty head, light peeking through around the edges, lacing. Mellow roasty aroma, light. Taste is sweet, cola, mild roast. Super smooth with a light body.
