Deep blond color. It’s a simple one, with very light aroma, but the flavor has some of the Belgian spiciness, and correct bitterness.

Hazy blond color. Strange aroma: dirty water, hazelnuts, very light vanilla, light orange peel, yellow grapes; interesting. The mouthfeel is weak, the flavor is poor, quite dry, quite bitter, with a touch of citrus. Below average.

Big thanks to the guy that brought this to the Pgh RB gathering 12/09. Not a fan of barley wines and I rate by how much I like it so ignore my numbers if you love this style. Dark Iced tea or rootbeer color. Big strong sweet typical barley wine aromas. Sweet sherry bourbon and barley wine flavors. Too much personality for this lager lover’s immature taste buds. Big slow long sweet hot alky finish, wew. Oily palate that hangs around for a while. Overall; large and in charge. Typical big beer.

(Bottle, XVI anniversary, at Akkurat) Poured dark brown and hazy with medium sized and lightly tan coloured head. Aroma contained lot of malts and some treacle. Palate was full bodied and bit stinging with medium carbonation. Flavours were lot of malts, salty liquorice, hops, chocolate, bread, molasses and bitterness. Aftertaste was bitter and malty.

Location: 12 oz bottle from Wine and Beer Westpark, 12/14/09
Aroma: It has some sweet citrus, some grass, a bit of honey, some cereal
Appearance: Pours a clear golden color with a bubbly white head and drippy lace
Flavor: Fairly mild, has some light sweetness with a funky grassy bitterness
Palate: This beer is pretty light and thin, with soft carbonation
Overall Impression: This beer is alright, not a ton going on, fairly mild on all assets, but not bad. I didn't love it but it is works as a session beer. Here's the truth, this isn't anything special, but it's still a decent beer, has a little flavor, worth drinking, though it isn't totally memorable. It is clean and refreshing at least

Location: Updating this rating with a 12 oz bottle from State Line, 7/28/12 , Bottled 3/7/12
Aroma: The nose is fairly sweet, with some caramel, some dark fruit, brown sugar, and toffee
Appearance: It pours a dark mahogany-brown color with a beige head, and mid-heavy lace
Flavor: Tastes mid-plus sweet and heavy malty, with components that are very similar to the nose
Palate: This beer is full bodied with surprisingly minimal heat, soft carbonation, and a sticky finish
Overall Impression: I was just re-reading this one, and I really enjoyed my use of Anchorman. It is almost too bad I didn't wait for the new one to come out before I did the re-rate, as I'm sure there would be something enjoyable that I could use from that movie in my second review. Anyway, I'm going to leave the score EXACTLY where it was, but keep in mind, my only consideration was to go up, I just wasn't sure where that would be. In addition to being quite good, for a beer this big, this one is pretty drinkable.

XVI Anniversary Edition, bottled 7/16/09
Aroma: The nose has some brown sugar, bourbon/alcohol, wood, toffee
Appearance: This beer is very important. It has many leather-bound books and it pours rich, translucent mahogany with a lasting beige head. It's friends with Merlin Olsen, too, he drinks it...on occasion.
Flavor: It is pretty well balanced, a malty feel, some subtle fruity sweetness and a nice hop backing as well
Palate: This one has a full body, soft carbonation, and a mild alcohol burn considering that is over 10%
Overall Impression: Anytime I'm able to go Ron Burgundy on my review, hey that's a great start to the review. As for the beer, I like it, it is pretty tasty. Really enjoyable I must say. A nice brew, from Utah, a state most of us thought hardly made a decent beer. Anyway, this is the only brewery I've tried from Utah, and while the Four + beers have only been decent, this one was actually quite nice. Well done by Uinta here, would happily drink this one again. More specifically, I'd like to try this one again with some more age on it to see how it develops over time.

XVII (12/30/10) into Uinta X Anniversary snifter
Appearance: Crystal clear mahogany with a medium sized beige head and some lacing
Aroma: Sweet malts, dark fruits and pine
Taste: Smooth mouthfeel of caramel, sweet malts with a slightly bitter finish
This is the first year I’ve had it fresh (41 days), very nice and hoppy.
12oz XVI bottled 5/15/09
Appearance: Dark brown with a reddish tint, nice tan head with lots of lace left in the glass.
Aroma: Roasted malt with chocolate and grapefruit flavors.
Taste: Bitter hops with roasted malts. Hints of chocolate and fruit.
Overall: This is a very easy drinking Barley Wine. There is some sweetness but it is well balanced with plenty of hops.

Light tangerine and asparagus aroma. Cloudy amber, fine floaties, no head. Delicious orange peel and tangerine flavor. Light bodied. Malty pine needle finish. Excellent selection and use of hops doesn’t blend well with the malt, but it tastes pretty good. Creative and the best I’ve had to date from the Four+ line.
