Can from the brewery. Appearance - deep brown with red chinks. Cream to fawn head. Nose - meaty and chocolaty. An edge of something like leather. Taste - milk chocolate and hazelnut. Burnt bread. Palate - medium to full bodied. A bit gnarly, on the edge of being astringent. Overall - challenging but well worth persisting.

Can from the brewery. Appearance - deep amber to chestnut with a slightly off-white head. Nose - burnt bread. Looking for chocolate and nuts but it's elusive at best. Taste - some chocolate and hazelnuts this time. Burnt bread again. Praline. Palate - close to medium bnodied, roasty middle and finish. Overall - nose not good, taste a lot better.

Can from the brewery. Appearance - deep golden with slightly off-white lacing. Nose - dried sultana and brown bread. But light dishcloth note is spoiling it somewhat. Taste - a bit of soapy dishcloth then lemon and brown bread. Palate - light to medium bodied. Tangy middle and dry, almost astringent finish. Overall - a wee bit ropey truth said.

Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 6 | Flavor - 6 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 6.5

Can from the brewery. Appearance - golden with attractive white lacing and a very light haze. Nose - lemon and lightly burnt bread. Taste - orange and cereal. Palate - close to medium bodied. Crunchy and roasty texture and similar through the finish. Overall - probably the weakest I've had from these guys, who have generally been above average.

Can from the brewery. Appearance - golden with steady carbonation and a decent layer of white lacing. Nose - bready malt and dry herbs, as per the description. Taste - caramel, sweet malt and honey. Just a whiff of herby bitterness again. Palate - light bodied, sweet middle and fairly dry finish. Overall - pretty decent example of the style.
