A big weekend deserves a big can. I got a 19.2 oz can from the Total Wine in Palm Springs during the tennis tournament last month. Label says 8.8% abv in large print, just to pass along. A snifter is in place to catch the pour and that I do. The appearance is a cloudy amber-orange with an inspiring top of arctic white foam that is showing a lacing possibility. I get an IPA hybrid scent, tropical fruit, some pininess and a bit of grain. The drink leans towards West Coast fortunately, there is grass, cedar, apricots, some mango, malt and a firm bitterness that ties it all together. A decent DIPA or even better. And yes, the lace is nice.

Can from The Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours lightly hazy gold with a large foamy white head. Pineapple in the aroma. Med body. Flavor is a little pineapple and some melon, earth, citrus and non-piney resin. Juicy but not really undry. Moderately or so bitter. It is delicious.

Last one on Coronado Island, Feb '24. Clear, bright, medium gold, frothy pour. Bittersharp, cheese, weed wacker, sweet malt. Lemongrass, slight offal/farm, long grassy & pith bitterness. Dirty. Didn't like this one. Time to walk.

Coronado Island, winding down. Feb 2024. Mostly hazy, golden honey pour. Dank, apple nose with a bit of pineapple. Sweet pineapple, bitter kale, mineral water, bit of lime rind on the tail. Harsh upfront but turns mellow. Medium carb. A little too thin & vapid. Okay.

On tap at Coronado Island, Feb '24. Clear, shiny, medium gold, bleached head. All sweet pineapple nose. Hyper fruity, grassy, lemongrass, herbal finish, resin residual. Thin, prickly, boozy enough. Good-ish+.

Didn't notice this on the list at first. Wonder where they're from. Coronado 2/24. Clear but a bit hazy, pale straw. White grape, apple juice box & pineapple nose. Tart, lemon, dried pineapple, prosecco fruitiness. Slight earthiness on the finish. Semi-sweet? Definitely not dry. Tolerable.

Still going on Coronado Island, Feb '24. Dark brown, not black, dark cola, frothy, lingering creme head. Earthy, middling hops, very slight dank nose. Bittersweet, lime leaf, almost all cascade, grape skin, earthy finish, a touch boozy. Session+ bitterness & too much fruit. Not my exact idea of a black IPA.
