Description
The microbrewery is founded by Achilles Van de Moer on the passion for special beers. After 7 years of trials with different beers, the decision to start a microbrewery in Itegem was made in 1999. The brand name of beers is “Serafijn”. All beers are high fermentation brews, with second fermentation in the bottle. Most of the beers are contract brewed, but some of them are also brewed at their own location.
In 2015 Achilles became part of Caupona bvba (of the Prik & Tik stores in Heist-op-den-Berg and Herselt). The brewery is now called ''Brouwerij Serafijn.'' That is the new company in Heist that houses the Serafijn beers. The former microbrewery in Itegem has been dismantled.
The beer is now brewed at the Pirlot brewery in Zandhoven.

Old gold, clear; disappearing fine white head. Cookie malt, a bit liqueurish but not very alcoholic in the nose; yeast aroma. Soft-sweet taste, long-lasting sweetness, part bready, part sugar, part honey-ish - and a strange yeast flavour. Very nice soft spring water quality, very remarkable. Some fermentation off-product is toddling around, and it disturbs the balance a bit. Still - beer that has its merits.

(Bottle 33 cl) Clear, amber golden with a tall, dense, handsome, white head leaving laces. Soft aroma of malt and fruit - cherry plums perhaps? Very soft mouthfeel. Medium-bodied with lightly sweet malt accents. Dry finish. 200107

Bottled. Pours hazy and golden, with a good deal of carbonation, floaties and a nice off-white head. Complex aroma with apples, citrus, yeast-notes and hints of orange and raspberry. The flavor is yeasty and fruity, with hops, sweetness and some sour notes. Full body and a finish with a nice bitterness. The bottle was dated best before 20061031, and the lagering sure didn’t hurt it. (061111)

Amber color; huge head, nice lace. Nice aroma, malty, a bit fruity, subtle hops. The taste is quite sweet and malty, with some caramel and candi sugar. Not extremely complex, but pleasant.
