Description
Driven by a love for craft beer and a passion for brewing,the Phoenix Brewing Company was founded by local beer enthusiasts looking to bring a craft beer revival to Mansfield. The Phoenix took flight in April 2014 landing in the beautifully restored 105 year old Schroer Funeral Home and Mortuary. The partners created an authentic pub experience filled with quality craft beers and live music. The taproom offers 16 taps of hand-crafted beers made on site and also guest Ohio brews, local Ohio wines, and Ohio distilled spirits. Guests can enjoy their beverages in the taproom or on the two adjacent patios. Food trucks are available seasonally but patrons may also order food items from the local restaurants or bring in carry out. Live entertainment is booked for weekends and carry out growlers, crowlers, and howlers of Phoenix brews and swag are available to go. Sampled on draft at the brewpub this beer poured a hazy bright golden-amber color with a large foamy white head that left exceptional lacing. The aroma was sweet, piney and citric. The flavor was sweet and moderately bitter with notes of pine, citrus and a malty undertone. Medium length finish. Moderately full bodied. Decent.

Sampled on draft at the brewpub this beer poured a slightly hazy yellow color with a medium sized foamy white head that left decent lacing. The aroma was sourish, a bit citric and tart. The flavor was tart and tangy with lemon, a bit of Windex and yeast. Medium length finish. Light body. Meh.

Sampled on draft at the brewpub this beer poured a dark nut brown color with a medium sized creamy beige head that left decent lacing. The aroma was dryish and malty with some dark fruit and a hint of soy. The flavor was tangy with dark fruits and a hint of golden fruit. Medium length finish. Medium body. Ok.

Sampled on draft at the brewpub this beer poured a very dark brown color - almost black - with orange highlights and a medium sized foamy tan head that left decent lacing. The aroma was roasty, a bit toasty and woody with faint cocoa and coffee. The flavor was toasty, nutty, roasty, malty and woody with a hint of vanilla. Long finish. Medium body and very creamy. Solid.

Sampled on draft at the brewpub this beer poured a hazy bronze color with a medium sized foamy white head that left good lacing. The aroma was sweet, faintly citric and had notes of honey and toffee. The flavor was biterish, perfumey and citric with honey and toffee notes. Medium length finish. Medium body. Well done.

Sample at the CCBW Six One Pour festival on 05/09/2015. Brown-black color with a medium tan head that diminishes steadily to a thin outer ring. Stringy lacing. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malt and spice. Medium to full-bodied with flavors of chocolate malt, roast coffee and spices. The finish is sweet and chocolatey with an underlying spicy aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

Sample at the tap room. Dark brownish-amber color with a a medium light beige head that diminishes steadily to a film. Patchy lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt, fruit and hops. Light-bodied with flavors of caramel malt, medicinal fruit and earthy hops. The finish is sweet with a malty aftertaste. Average overall.

Sample at the tap room. Pours a dark brown color with amber around the edges, and a thin light beige head that dissipates gradually to a film. Sheets of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee and chocolate. Medium-bodied with a roasty malt and coffee character, with some dark chocolate in the background. The finish is sweet with a burnt malt aftertaste. Decent overall.

Sample at the tap room. Clear pale yellow-gold color with a thin white head that disappears quickly. Small patches of lacing. Grassy hops, malt and a touch of fruit in the nose. Light-bodied with flavors of herbal hops, toasted malt and fruit. The finish is mildly bitter with a grassy hops aftertaste. Decent overall.
