(Keg at Beer House No 1, 20170105) The beer poured dark brown and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had toasted malts and molasses. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, caramel, molasses, grass and bitterness. Aftertaste was toasty, malty and bitter. A nice dunkel.

500ml bottle from a trade with vinivini (thanks!). Somewhat a rarity - this is the first Latvian beer I’ve seen since they disappeared off the shelves in 2014. Pours dark brown with a medium beige head. Aroma is roasted malt, smoke, caramel. Taste is sweet, chocolate, roasted notes. Light bitter finish. Enjoyable although a little too sweet.

Deep brown, opaque, medium off-white frothy head. Average retention. A lace with protuberances pattern on glass. Highy roasted malts, dark fruit, minimal alco on nose. Medium body. Creamy texture. Rich malty flavour with notes of roast, toast, dried fruit, chokeberry. A bit vinous. The sweetness is somewhat overdone. Still it doesn’t go against the grain. Low to light bitterness. Medium long ending with rich malts & hops. A rather positive experience.

Deep golden, medium white frothy head, that breaks down quickly. Malty aroma of diacetyl, caramel, candy, fruit esters. Light to medium body. Oily. Bitersweet flavour. Tastes of caramel, butterscotch, candy. Somewhat bock-like. Light grassy euro-bitterness. Overall a bit unclean. Lagerish. What kind of IPA did they mean? Nice mouthfeel however.

Sweet malty taste. Rye malts. A bit vinous. Roasted barley malts. Low to light bitterness. Roast & hops in the aftertaste. Clearly on the sweet side still tasty enough.
