Sarajevska Pivara
Commercial Brewery
in Sarajevo,
Federation of BiH,
Bosnia and Herzegovina 🇧🇦
Associated Venue: Pivnica HS
Established in 1864
The brewery survived both World Wars. In 1957, the first automatic line for bottling beer with a capacity of 5,000 bottles per hour was put into operation, and in the following 15 years, all facilities were reconstructed, so the production capacity was increased to 400,000 hectoliters per year.
At the start of the eighties the Sarajevo brewery was in the biggest crisis during its entire history, and in the former Yugoslavia it fell to the 20th place out of a total of 28 breweries in the former Yugoslavia. The decline was successfully stopped by the arrival of Mr. Hilma Selimović as general director. By 1991, the Brewery was modernized, and its production increased by three times, so the Sarajevo Brewery was ranked among the four leading breweries in the former Yugoslavia.
Sarajevo Brewery is the leading B&H brewery. company in the production of beer, carbonated and non-carbonated water, soft drinks and juices. Production takes place at the company's headquarters in the old part of Sarajevo, on an area of about 17,400 m2.

On tap at Pivnica HS Sarajevo, May 2014. (my first beer from Bosnia and Herzegovina) Clear brownish/amber with a large creamy tan head. Aroma of chocolate, light coffee, some roasted malt and fruit. Similar taste. Also some toffee. Relaxed and easy to drink.

thanks to MarkoNm for this bottle Pale golden in the glass, the beer starts grainy and very alcoholfree-sweet. The mainpart is the same with hints of bitterness. But quite undrinkable. The aftertaste is longer that I hoped, bitter-grainy and alcoholfree-sweet.
Not really recommended! --> 1/2/1/1

Pours a clear and very, very pale yellow color. Looks like white wine actually. The head is small and quickly disappearing. Aroma is pleasantly citrusy, sweet but not too strong. Expected a strong artificial taste, but got the opposite. The taste is gentle, pleasant, slightly sweet and citrusy. No artificial sugar, it feels. Ends with a pleasant soury finish. Very nice radler.
