Sarajevska Pivara
Commercial Brewery
in Sarajevo,
Federation of BiH,
Bosnia and Herzegovina 🇧🇦
Associated Venue: Pivnica HS
Established in 1864
The brewery survived both World Wars. In 1957, the first automatic line for bottling beer with a capacity of 5,000 bottles per hour was put into operation, and in the following 15 years, all facilities were reconstructed, so the production capacity was increased to 400,000 hectoliters per year.
At the start of the eighties the Sarajevo brewery was in the biggest crisis during its entire history, and in the former Yugoslavia it fell to the 20th place out of a total of 28 breweries in the former Yugoslavia. The decline was successfully stopped by the arrival of Mr. Hilma Selimović as general director. By 1991, the Brewery was modernized, and its production increased by three times, so the Sarajevo Brewery was ranked among the four leading breweries in the former Yugoslavia.
Sarajevo Brewery is the leading B&H brewery. company in the production of beer, carbonated and non-carbonated water, soft drinks and juices. Production takes place at the company's headquarters in the old part of Sarajevo, on an area of about 17,400 m2.

Sampled at RBESG. Very pale yellow, airy head. Neutral aroma. Sweet, thin aand empty. The lack of malt makes the chemic al resiny bitter seem so out of place and it becomes inky and harsh.

Bottled(500ml). -Avaliable only in half liter bottle, better than regular 4.9% Sarajevsko.
Yellow coloured, medium sized white head, mild malty nose. The taste is light malty, mild hoppy and bready with slight watery palate. Refreshing and easy going beer.

0.5l bottle courtesy of ogivlado (thanks!), shared with heavy We’ve been trying to sort out the mess surrounding Sarajevsko Pivo and realized that there are two versions. This is the 4.5% version, available only in 0.5l bottles. Poured a yellow body with a medium-big white head that went away fast. The nose is light and slightly malty. The taste is ok, if light. Some nice herbal-flowery hopiness, piney if I stretch my imagination a bit is probably the only thing that can be found under the water and a little in the aftertaste. The better of the two versions.

On tap at Pivnica HS within Sarajevska Pivara.
Avaliable only draught at HS. Light hazy pale yellow coloured, small airy white head, to much smoke in HS to smell the nose. Mild fresh acidic hoppy taste with light bready notes. Drinkable but a bit too watery. Slight bitter finish.

This beer is avaliable only draught on few locations in Sarajevo. Pours a pale brown colour with small tan head and light chocolate caramel nose. Very sweet toffee and light chocolate taste with notes of cocoa and nuts. Unfortunately also some metallic hints. Rather sweet finish but all in all good beer.
