Description
Põhjala Brewery is the brainchild of three friends and beer aficionados who, like many a future craft brewer, got tired of the tasteless watery lagers that the faceless megacorporations have saturated the beer market with.

We brew small batches of hand crafted ales, using the best malts, loads of mostly New World hops and a relentless passion for good beer. When creating our beers, we are inspired by Nordic nature, Estonian new cuisine and the work of our fellow microbrewers in the U.S., UK and Scandinavia who, in our opinion, are leading the craft beer revolution.

In hops we trust!

33 cl bottle @ HeBF’13. Batch 13/2: BBE 01.04.2014
Aroma has cocoa, herbal notes, salty licorice and distant hay notes. Flavour has salty licorice, roasted notes, some soy sauce. Also some non‐disturbing alcohol. Not bad but I expected more; too salty.

On tap at Pudel, Tallinn. Clear amber with an off-white head. Quite malty aroma with rye, hops and hints of caramel and citrus. Very well balanced. Moderate sweet, not very hoppy, but bready and very easy to drink. Nice one!

33 cl bottle @ wPBF, BBE 01.04.2014
Rather sweet aroma with rye, caramel and hints of raspberries. Flavour is hoppy with some fruits. Finishes with gooseberry bush and some pine needles. A bit messy and sticky but decent anyway. 7+3+6+3+14=3.3

Aroma has lots of biscuits, some gooseberry bush, fruity notes and caramel. Floury feeling here, also feels a bit like fruit candy. Flavour is a bit messy with rye, some gooseberry bush, some citrus and biscuits. Decent, not that sticky. 7+3+6+3+13=3.2
