On the outskirts of Billund, just a stone's throw from the expansive Jutland heaths, lays Dansk Mjød. A traditional brewery which has brewed mead since 1994 on the basis of old recipes and with an uncompromising focus on quality and ingredients. It is the endless stories and myths about mead, which still inspire Dansk Mjød to create products that combine the ancient brew craft and tradition with a modern eye for quality and tastes.

Ceramic bottle 70cl (vPBF)
Deep golden color, no head. Aroma of cough syrup, herbs and honey. Full-bodied. Alcoholic, herbal hoppyness, sweet honey. A bit burning sensation. Unusual mead.

Aroma has some honey and herbs. And the honey is not a cheap one. Flavour has some root beer, herbs and stinging alcohol. Feels like cough syrup. Good.

Quite good honey depth, a bit herbal, sweet, the alcohol is not burning.

Measured Final Gravity: 1041, 7-4-7-3-15=36
Blond color. Herbal aroma, old pharmacy, old furniture, perfume, alcohol. Sweet mouthfeel, with some herbal presence, herbal, light smoke, leading to a moderate bitterness.
Quite good herbal and fortified mead.

Bottled, thanks fiulijn! Lightly hazy pale golden. Aroma of mango and honey.Super sweet with agressive alcohol heat that kills everything in its way. Cloying and burning.

Pours clear golden. Aroma has notes of honey, apples and bog mythle. Taste is heavy sweet with a long apple, honey, spiced and boozy finish. Body is full, texture is sticky.

Bottle. Clear golden with no head. Aroma is honey, little perfume with notes of alcohol. Flavour is honey, sweet, herbs, little perfume, bog myrtle with notes of alcohol.

Bottle, 75cl ceramic. A quite dark golden color mead, oily pour, and still. The aroma has some herbal notes, but it’s mostly rather flowery honey. Alcohol too, but not very pushing. It’s quite warming on the palate, oily and full-bodied. Not very sweet, but far from dry, with a pleasant flowery honey flavor, and also some herbal notes. Warming, honey-tasting finish. Considering the ABV, it’s quite pleasant, but its also a bit low on aroma and flavor levels. Nice though. 120624

Bottle, 75cl ceramic. A clear, dark golden mead, oily and still. Quite alcoholic nose with a healthy dose of honey. Some flowery notes. Warming, full-bodied and oily on the palate, with honey flavors dominating. Quite heathery, with some generic flower notes. Really long lasting warming finish. A nice one indeed, but way too alcoholic. 120624
